i only have the brochure, and the owner's manual. definitely not there on how to reset the 'vehicle check' service alert.

i think a special scanner/tool is required to reset any service related alerts.

were you referring to a specific manual? a service manual? is this even available to public?

thanks.

Garage List
Last time my wife's X5 was in for an oil change, they said the cabin air filters (yes there are multiple) needed to be replaced, the intake air filter needed to be replaced, and it was due for this "service check". Cabin filters were going to be about $500, intake filter about $150, and the service check was about $250. So went in for a $100 oil change (ended up signing up for the $200 oil change package for 3 years cause we use her car ALOT) and they tried to bang me out for about $1,000. I told them no thanks to everything. Can order the cabin/intake filters on FCP Euro for about $60 and they do a walk around of the vehicle and inspect the engine, suspension, exhaust, etc. free of charge on video and send it to me. Can't see the point of the "service check" or whatever they call it. I just ended up resetting the light myself when we got the car back home.

I got genuine BMW engine air filter for $5 from dealer and did it myself(3 minutes of DIY).

The BMW cabin filter costs around $25 from online parts desk of Midwest dealer, it took me an hour on first try DIY, then 10 minutes on subsequent tries.

BMW wipers are $10 a set, and that was 1 minute of DIY.

I did skip vehicle check, in fact the SA told me to reset myself, as the free multi-point inspection already covered most items except for "basic scope" or something like that.

I did get dealer oil change special ranging from $55 to $95 dependent on discounts. Online N26 oil change kit easily go for $70+ shipped, so dealer oil change is not bad at all.
