F33 Boot won't open fully with keyfob

Hi,

Hoping I can get some advice with my 2018 F33.

So when I use the keyfob to open the boot the locking mechanism actually works in the sense that I can walk up to the boot and pull it open without pressing the button on the boot, but its not opening on its own.

I'm not too clued up but I'm guessing it might be the gas struts that need replacing?

Any advice would be amazing thanks!

I had this when I purchased mine, It had been fitted with a boot spoiler which adds weight to the boot. If you remove the boot liner you should see the spring has two hook options, just stretch the sping to the second hole and the extra tension on the spring should see it pop open fully on the key fob

I have a 2016 F33 [convertible] and my boot lid has never been able to open by itself - the boot lid is too heavy.

Isn't there spring adjustment inside. I know there was on my F30.

I have no idea whether there is an adjustable spring on my boot lid - I've never looked into this as I wasn't aware that this feature was available.

I've assumed that it wasn't as the boot lid has to open in two directions to accommodate entry into the boot and to open in the opposite direction to accommodate the roof.

There are springs behind the panels on each side of the boot. If the boot lid is too heavy (spoiler fitted), there are 3 settings on the springs, just unhook the springs using pliers & fit them to the next position. This worked for me on an E90.

F33 does not have auto opening of the boot lid.
