F31 splitter / diffuser
Evening
2016 F31 M Sport Looking for a front splitter & rear diffuser Lots of choice online but I've seen mixed reviews for the splitters (some say that they rub off the paint where it meets the bumper?) Any pointers / links appreciated |

IMO BMW only…
I’ve seen so many aftermarket ones and they all don’t fit as well, seem flimsy/ cheap in comparison. Unless you want CF splitters/diffusers, OEM BMW are the ones to go for. As an example: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/145566782374 They always seem to have much better prices too. Part numbers here on Realoem: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=03_0161

Not cheap; but they fit fully/properly and not flimsy at all...
I've got the OEM BMW front splitter in the garage and will get it fitted when I get the bumpers resprayed; rear splitter is OEM thankfully. Obviously the front got damaged and a cheap eBay special was fitted. It's on tight, but it's not flush where it should be and annoys the hell out of me haha Not easy to see; but I know it doesn't fit as it should if that makes sense...

I put a 'CT carbon' gloss black splitter on my F33 (same front) and it fitted a treat. Threw the supplied tape away and used 3M VHB tape. No issues with rubbing.
Rear diffuser was a bit more challenging TBH as at least two didn't fit (but the F33 has a very different rear end to the F31) Last edited by Pond; 02-20-2024 at 04:55 PM.. |

I bought my rear diffuser from a company in Northern Ireland from a recommendation on here from someone with an F31 (can't remember the company TBH). It was an OEM copy but fitted a treat and was half the cost.

As mentioned by Dan, this is my opinion too....
Front splitter BMW OEM M performance one. - Not only does it fit properly but it doesn't come off either, it's two piece and is secure, especially when you follow the manufacturers instructions and fix the winglet parts to the bumber with Betalink adhesive!! Rear diffuser also BMW OEM - it fits and the finish is good. That one you can take off and resell at a later date as well, as long as you keep the original You can paint them both but either finish is nice without, not the same for cheap copies or those that come already painted in gloss black. Had a front one on my 330d and painted the winglets same as car but left the splitter unpainted, looked good. |

Yes it did look good especially in the Sapphire black. In retrospect I should have covered the painted wingletts with a form of PPF as the vertical parts did suffer with road rash after a couple of years. The primer that the paint shop used was light grey, so stuck out like a sore thumb to my OCD. |

It happened on mine, but I didn't fit it originally. I could tell immediately when viewing the car that is was a piece of sh1t ebay special, so I ripped it off immediately. The paint where the corner bits stick to the bumper with tape, was ruined from trapped grit. Chipped and worn away from shoddy quality. The genuine one wouldn't do that as it hugs the bumper lines more accurately. |

@wazman999 I have a genuine F30/F31 M Performance rear diffuser that I'd be happy to part with.
Had it fitted to our F30 and it's the dual outlet on the left, so suitable for the 320d & your 335 where the exhaust is just on the left hand side. There are some minor marks on it but not really noticeable when fitted or easy to sort out if you wanted to colour code it. Happy to post some photo's if it's of any interest. |

I’m quite a stickler for how the exterior looks. Can’t really take the credit as these were fitted before I bought the car, but I do like the look of the M Performance kit.

Your car is the same colour as mine and its making me consider going for a genuine one It would certainly cover up the mess the aftermarket one left behind, but I also really like the look of M Sport bumpers without splitters. Decisions decisions! Edit: maybe not at that price, lol - https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rc...a&opi=89978449 |

For my f31 I got a genuine BMW rear diffuser as I've read a few stories about ill fitting one from eBay. I managed to get a new one for a half decent price and fitting it was dead easy.
Front splitter wise I really couldn't justify the cost of a OEM one - at the time I looked they were around £480-£500 so I bought one from BNG Performance - that's the company in Northern Ireland that Pond mentioned above. It was a fraction of the price and a copy of the OEM one in that it's matt black and is in 2 pieces - consisting of the splitter itself and the inside reinforcement section which helps the splitter keep its shape, as this part sits inside the main splitter you cannot see it at all. Fitment is decent and so far so good. I've caught it a few times and it's been fine, although given the cost I did buy a spare one just in case so I have a boxed spare one in the rafters of my garage just in case I ever do need it. You can see some pics of it here mate: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1915963
