F30 335i Does not start after JB4 Stage 2

Hello Fellows.

I need your help.

After installing my JB4 stage 2, my car got into limb mode and iDrive gave me a Drivetrain fault alarm.

The car became very weak and almost didn't move, so I connected the PC to the JB4 software and, and was unable to get connect to the box.
I disconnected everything and re-connected, the performance got even worst but in that time I was able to connect to the JB Box and read the following codes.

1B5202 No Description Found
1B5402 No Description Found
1B02AF No Description Found
1F051F No Description Found
051511 No Description Found
272F13 No Description Found
000000 No Description Found
0000F1 No Description Found

After that I decided that was time to remove the JB4 and start troubleshooting because my car was not even starting.
IŽll upload a video of that.

I've tried to remove the alarms using the Tool32 fs_loeschen_funktional, but the alarm remais active, the car makes a dong and the drivetrain malfunction alarm comes back.

I don't know what to do.

My car is still under the warranty, but I want to be prepared before taking the car to the dealer.

Thanks in advance !

Have you had the battery disconnected? Try it. 120 s off.
And be sure every plug is fitted correctly. Reconnect and let hear what's up.

None of those are codes I've seen before. I have no idea what you've done but first step is to read codes with a BT cable so you get descriptions and then post those on the n54tech support forum for professional advice.

The sheer number of issues with BMS products is getting a little hard to ignore, as much as I back them and still plan to buy a JB4. A few here and there you can shrug off and chalk up to user/installer error, but not when it's a constant barrage. How long can one defend a product before it becomes denial?

Hope you get your issues resolved, OP.

Your car is not starting even after you removed the JB4?

And did it all happen right after you installed the JB4 or did you have it on for awhile?

BMS ships hundreds of tunes per month and when issues crop up are quick to provide assistance. You need only email their technical support or post on their technical forum. If you want to see a long list of people who had various problems and resolved them just read the support forum. You should see some of the simple solutions to "huge" problems. Like forgetting to connect a ground wire, switching the CAN wires, etc.

I still don't understand why people ask for help on this forum as there is no one here to help them. Only me to remind them to go to the source for assistance.

Why do you think some stranger on this forum is going to have any advice for you? If you want to use a forum for help at least use BMS' support forum where someone is there that may know the answer you need.

Only people I see truly backing the JB4 are the sponsors who sell them. Seems like a high probability of trouble for people who are concerned about warranty and can't afford a catastrophic issue like this one. Car not starting?? Clear signal of a $3XX product that is poorly designed, which is directly correlated to no warranty offering.

Mike, I'll follow your advice and create a topic on the other forum.

But I know that knowledge is everywhere, and I am sure that there are several stranger here that are willing to help and exchange experiences.

No it does not.

The engine starter works and the car tries hard, but it behaves almost like the car is out of gas.

How long have you had the JB4 on before it started?

I'm wondering if your fuel pump went out.

I installed it turned the car on and went to the street to test, realized that it was hard to even get out of the garage.
Came back and started troubleshooting.

Connected the jb4 to the pc and selected map 0, after that I saw that the car was getting worse.

Disconnected everything, reconnected and the car remained the same...
The error codes I listed before kept showing up and I couldn't find it on the internet.

And suddenly the car was not starting anymore.

Removed the JB4 and realized that I needed

What firmware were you running when you started the car? Did you update it before turning the car on?

My short experience with JB4 has been just the opposite. 7K miles on Map 1, now 1k miles on MAP 2 and soon more miles on MAP 3 (BMS meth kit installed this weekend). BTW, I don't sell anything to anyone.

Mind you, I have no ego invested into their products and if you check my track record here, I fully support them, their products, and I will gladly speak against unfounded criticism of their products. However the overwhelming number of issues reported is unsettling. It seems like it is something which will require constant tinkering...one day you start the car and everything is fine, the next day it's sputtering and you limp it to work and you're under the hood checking wires.

This isn't a headache I personally want. Modifying cars always comes with drawbacks. I know this for a fact as I've been in the game long enough...it doesn't matter what parts you go with or how conservative/aggressive you go. When you mod, there are always unintended consequences and constant attention necessary. It's when you start cutting and splicing wires and messing with sensors when you open a whole new can of worms. If names like A'PEXi AFC and HKS F-Con ring a bell, then you can figure how long I've been doing this for.

This sort of modification is nowhere near the set-it-and-forget-it type.

I don't think #3 counts as a JB4 problem when the user added 100% water to his meth tank and tried to run the meth map lol. And other links seem like they are user error.

You also have bring in the fact that some of these problems could be from the car and not caused by the JB4.

Yeah, you're right. Removed that one so the list is a little shorter now. I also only used the first page of the support forum...there are 42 more pages to go.
