Be warned 440i drivers!
If you have a vaguely sporty sounding variant, you should watch this.
Basically, man in maserati downshift slightly enthusiastically and makes a few decibels of sound for about 3 seconds. Police put on full lights and sirens for 30 seconds, and block the road for a full 10 minutes while there of them serve him with a notice for anti social behaviour and a £100 fine. |

Where does it say he was fined for making a noise?
Who was the fuckwit videoing it. Then you have the fuckwit driver videoing the police. How not the reason being he was on his mobile and drove past the police while on it? From his attitude he serves everything. |

To be fair to the driver I'd have had a monk on about it too. The rozzers siren was far louder. I even had to turn my speakers down.

I guess it’s Knightsbridge area. Lots of rich Arabs revving their cars Supercars In this area which causes nuisance to residents. so that place has a antisocial behaviour on cars. Look at the YouTube videos and you know them reving the car all day long, the residents have to put up with it everyday..

This should be a link to the video from the driver which explains more...
That momentary rev of the engine was apparently "backfiring" and cost him £100 https://m.facebook.com/groups/247134...88397798350703 |

Not saying I like that crap, nor that I agree with it. All I'm saying is the driver is way too in their face and argumentative for them to even try and give a crap about what he's trying to say. I do still think those cops are morons with their "your car was backfiring" nonsense! |

I don't know what the real full story really is here, because if all that palaver really was just because of that noise for a few seconds then the police really really need to think about what their priorities are.
Also, if that really is an offence then I know plenty cars that would essentially be undriveable on the public road or at least in London, including my own!

The more I think about it the more ridiculous it is. I get that stationary revving of loud engines is anti-social, but a vehicle in motion that isn't being driven illegally, and in normal operation really can't be subject to a fine.
What on earth are the going to do with motorbikes? Fine ALL the riders?!

Most summers for the last 7 or eight years I have in late July and August attended certain BBC events at Royal Albert Hall and spent afternoons in London between Victoria and Kensington. It is the time of year when the middle east is at its hottest and if you live there and are rich you relocate to London and have a flash car for that purpose or buy a flash car here to take home afterwards. The "problem" developed of many of these becoming deliberately driven at their loudest down places like Kings Road and throughout Knightsbridge at all times of day and night to the extent it started to annoy the residents in their Million plus homes and a local "bylaw" was passed. To a motoring enthusiast, one of the pleasures of wandering through London at this time of year were such displays. I think from memory the bylaw against such "pollution" about two or three years ago.
Take note of the number plate on the car in the video. "V12IRAQ" |

Thats a bit like the stupid law in the birmingham/ black counties that prevents car convoys and car cruises.
Get caught and they will set an example of you.... but surely the police should have better things to do. |

I wonder of they start hunting 320D's, Sir your engine is too ruttly!
On serious side, maybe some people have a point here, if these Arabs do this all day long in the area, police should start doing something. |

Clearly they were testing the Police.
This is all far too coincidental for my liking. If you drive a car like that, then you are only after one thing, attention! This is clearly what he got, so live with it |

The entire area was at risk from dickheads racing on the roads, those car cruises resulted in deaths and accidents. Prior to the ban I had to put up with multiple fuckwits racing down dual carriageways. It was anarchy on some roads and a huge amount of intimidation going on. Yes the police have something to do, stop oxygen stealing fuckwits using roads as race tracks. Yes it impacts those that like cars and obey laws, act sensibly etc. It's a pain it affects those wish for casual driving, however it's worth it to stop the bollox that was going on. |

Thing is, he barely revved. It was not much more than a throttle blip.
Second, the police car made 10 times as much noise putting on its sirens to stop him. Third, its the middle of flipping London. If you don't like noise, don't flipping live there. I lived in Euston for 3 years by the way. Fourth, its not at all clear to me how well signed this local law is, so how was he supposed to know he was breaking it? Fifth, the law is, by its nature subjective, so how can it be enforced by fixed penalty notice? How loud is loud? Its just about OK to enforce a clear cut law, like a speeding offence in this way perhaps, but in this kind of scenario, the police are clearly acting as judge and jury. That undermines numerous principles of law. Sixth, confidence in policing and government in general is at an all time low. They bleat in about being underfunded, then they pull crap like this? Policing works on the basis of public consent and cooperation, which they will lose with this kind of nonsense in my view. |

Can't believe the driver was pulled over just for that bit of noise on the downshift; suspect there was more to it than that, a suspicion heightened by the fact someone just happened to be on the pavement to capture it all on video on their phone....

In the area that it was filmed people often spend hours roaming ready to film any fast cars. I dont think there was more going on before hand, he just made noise at the wrong place.

Given all you here about crime down in London you'd have thought the boys in blue would have far more important things to contend with than a bloke who blipped the throttle slightly too much on a downshift... |
