In regards to the C-Klasse. Whilst it may look like an S-Klasse the key difference from an S-Klasse is that the metal details might be metal in the S-Klasse , they are not in the C-Klasse.
Those things are expected but other than the improvement in steering, many are happy with how the pre-LCI F30 performs, the updates are a bonus. Many gripes of the F30 is and will always be the interior. Some people didn't like it compared to the E9X and these concerns got worse after the C-Class was introduced. Not sure why people think BMW is going do a serious upgrade to the interior, it has never happened before.

E90 M3 hit the scene as an MY2008 in late spring 2008, and the MY2009 E90 LCI came just a few months later in late summer 2008.

F80 M3 hit the scene as an MY2015 in early summer 2014, but the MY2016 F30/F80 LCI won't be here until summer 2015.

So yes, LCI comes second model year again, but the difference is the M3 hit early this model year - before the 3 did, even. So no one wanted to wait an entire year for some tail lights anyway. Now, for people planning to take delivery next year anyway - yes, they should take notice.

Plus, we've has multiple high profile discussions about this on F80.bimmerpost so people have had multiple opportunities to inform themselves. I tried to do that back in 2008 too, but I think this time the audience is more up to speed. We'll see soon.

Looks like I'm holding off an ordering a 340i M-Sport now... And I guess I'm a sucker since I'll pay $1,900 for the Lighting Package
It's only going to be a 320-330hp from what the insider has said, not 340-360hp.

Really cheap BMW, shame on you.p

Great for those looking at 2016s.
Don't worry, the next gen 3 Series in 2019 is where BMW will "forget" that LED tail lights were standard and revert back to incandescent bulbs until the 2022 LCI where they get rediscovered again.

Meanwhile, full LED tail lights will continue to be common across all other manufacturers including the 12k econoboxes.

Styling is subjective. There is nothing about the C-Class that I prefer to the F30. Nothing.

Thanks for the post Jason. I am heading out in 12 hours to two different dealers to finalize my color build. This may now sway me in waiting a little longer (I've waited ~3 years at this point what's another few months )

And seeing how I can't talk myself into any of the colors currently offered I may get a double bonus by waiting (LEDs + new colors).

lol, the C-class is premium, the A4 is premium, the F30? Hardly, but it's easily the most expensive. Once the B9 A4 rolls out BMW will be so far behind it won't even be funny. BMW's interiors are so, so, so low-rent for the price paid.

Yes, the rinse and repeat decontenting and recontenting is wearing pretty thin, especially at the price point.

If its true that LED is now the option and Xenon is standard then I will be both happy and angry. Happy because I've said from the beginning that BMW should stop cheating out and make Xenon standard with LED as the option but pissed because I have the halogens
I was chatting to a dealer whilst the other half looked at the 2-Series Active Tourer the other week and we flicked through options books; the LED lights are the replacement for Xenons (due to cost and function improvement) I was told and (annoyingly) you have to spec the LED lighting package to get the adaptive headlights and high bean assist etc etc despite the fact that this is all available on the Xenons (obviously). The option was still nearly £2k! Surely if Xenons become standard you should be able to option the lighting package at a reduced cost as you already have the units?

On the note of LED, not sure until I see them in the flesh what they're like. They are supposed to be the closest to natural daylight you can get. And as long as the projectors are a decent set up the beam pattern is as good if not better than xenon projection (I did read previously somewhere that the LED beam was a bit scattered and didn't actually give a better 'drivers view'). The current upgraded lighting with Xenons is absolutely spectacular!

Still. How 'standard' will they really be... Just means another hike in base cost? #Cynic

Scott as the B47 already made it's way under the hood of the F10 can you say what are the power figures that bmw expect for the future?

Seem like 20D is now 190PS and that the 25i is 231PS. What can we expect from the 30 I/D 40I/D 50 D level of the B serie engine?

Yes it is subjective, but the fact remains, a lot of people including those on this forum do not like the F30 interior and prefer the E90. I happen to like it because it resembles the E90 but the layout is more modern but you're in the minority that think the F30 interior comes even close to what's being offered in the C-Class. While I have no problems with the F30, you put the two side by side and it looks outdated and it's only at mid-cycle.

In any case, the new headlight/grill design will probably look more so like the 4 series than ever (if not exactly the same) especially because the option of LED headlights. One thing I noticed in those pictures though, the turn signal appears to flash at the top eyebrow (like F10 LCI w/ LED) vs. 4 series LED that have turn signals flash at the sides of the headlights.
My bad, I meant F30 looks sloppy compared to the 4 series, not the F80.

Looks like it will turn out great.

I just hope manual gear boxes won't be excluded from even more of the 3er lineup this year...

Would luv to understand the differences between the N55 and B58. As an F30 owner, any improvements in these inline six's are worth the upgrade. Best engine ever developed. I just installed a Dinan tune, and can out-accelerate a new M3 or M4 (but they'd catch up eventually..:-) I see a new 440i x-drive coupe in my future.
