In short, the GC is the best turbine in terms of price and power output.

THIS is how you find the limits of things, you push them well past what they are designed to run, and see what fails. We got the unit back, inspected it, and it was exactly as we assumed, Overspeed, and thrust failure from simply pushing it way past its surge line, and RPM limit. Now we know where to set the boost recommendation for the unit. The tester was sent another unit at no cost and was told to keep it under 35psi. This is all part of the story not being told, as people do not understand what it actually means to test something to failure.
Idk if something was lost in translation, but I was stating that it only blew because he went full send and that shouldn't be a concern for most users.

I certainly appreciate it, it's great to have the torture tested fail points on here so people can have a reasonable expectation of each turbos limits.

I currently have a 340i w/ GC turbo tuned for e50 hitting roughly 580whp but black Friday came and gave me the itch so now I'm waiting on the GC+, let's see what this thing can do, hoping for close to 700whp on fbo stock motor. Love my GC so far so let's see what this GC+ can do!!!!

What time do you have 100/200-? How did you determine the power?
My stand showed 620whp at 25psi E30+WMI

I'm 6.5 100-200 and my GC numbers are from a dyno run, GC+ is just my goal, hoping to conservatively hit 700 without pushing it too hard. We will see 🤞

The gc turbo dyno graph from vargas showed 600ftlb max torque and falls off in the top end. The gc+ can make over 600ftlb torque in the top end. What is stopping us from making 600ftlb torque x 6500rpms / 5252 = 742whp. Why do people talk hp when talking about the limits of stock motor. Isnt hp just a function of torque? What are actually the causes of broken rods and pistons? For sure detonation. Forces? (torque)

I have placed an order for a GC for my 540i G30. I have also ordered a TU hpfp. Hope I can get 600hp at the crank with that setup on E30. Wil give numbers as soon as I get the parts mounted

600 at the crank is pretty reasonable. I missed that on the first read through and was going to say that 600 at the wheels will be tough to get to with that setup, would be at the ragged edge. You definitely have picked a pretty economical way to get some fun power. Good luck with the build.

power is easier to translate but there are countless contributors. peak torque, where that peak torque is, how quickly torque ramps up, AFRs/combustion temps, IATs, etc etc etc.

The first weak point is the pistons. typically the piston itself cracks (too much pressure) or the piston rings/ringland break against the cylinder walls (too much heat)

Do you guys think 600 whp is attainable with FBO, GC, dorch stage 1, and custom e40-e50 tune?

You'll need dorch stage 2 to properly handle fueling at 50% ethanol to achieve 600 whp

bumping this for anyone who has things to add.

I've seen a couple posts on the b58 facebook group have their bearing on the pure 800 go out causing it to leak oil into the exhaust. I'm sure it's isolated cases and they are known for having a good warranty but have any of you experienced it as well?
