Can this be buffed?

Any idea if this looks like it can be saved by a compound? Or maybe even just a polish?

(Yes I drive on a lot of unpaved road, riddled with gravel & sand)

Maybe, you'll only know by trying. You should have mudflaps, and maybe paint protection film on the rockers.

Agree on the PPF or mudflaps of some sort.

You probably could buff it out, but you're fighting a loosing battle. If the blasting from the debris isn't too deep, you should be able to polish it out, but without some form of protection, it's going to come right back. Each time you have to polish it out you're removing more clear coat on top of what is getting knocked off by the debris.

If you can feel the scratches with your fingernail, the answer is probably most likely no. If that's the case, you can probably soften the edges a bit (less noticeable) with wet-sanding, touch-up paint, and polishing.

Spray the area with soapy water from a spray bottle. If the scratch can't be seen it can be removed.
