Makita Light Bar?
Anyone know what this is called and where I can get one? The paintless dent removal guy was kind enough to let me take a picture.
This would be great for finding swirls. [IMG][/IMG] |

It's called a rechargeable cordless flashlight, just about every manufacturer of cordless electric tools make something similar. They use the same battery as cordless drills and saws.

I think you'd be better off with that type of light on a stand.
A magnet or suction cup holding the light to the car still runs the risk of inducing marring since it touches the paint. If you get a light like that on a stand and place it where it has a very shallow angle to the panels you get the same effect. Also, on metalic paints, or light colored paint like white or silver, I've found you want a little stand-off distance between the light source and the area your inspecting/polishing. If the light source is too close the metalic flake becomes too reflective and you can't see the defects.
