Hi, i just ordered my 2016 340xi yesterday. Its fully loaded near 60k MSRP, with the M performance exhaust. Im planning to get the ER Catless DP, would it justify for me to get the AWE Mid pipe as well? Whats the difference from stock mid pipe and AWE Mid pipe? Would it be alot louder with the awe mid pipe as well?
Cheers PS: Anyone got any sound clips? with stock vs awe mid pipe? |

Ordered the catback last week! Super excited
I will keep you guys updated on progress / installation. Special thanks to Josh, from AWE, for being thorough, helpful and answering a bunch of my questions! Also thanks to Matt, from ACM, for helping me order parts and professionally guiding me through the process. Thanks! Mike |

The Performance Mid Pipe is not required. It makes the system more aggressive by replacing the factory resonated section with a 3" non-resonated section. You can always add the mid pipe later if you wanted.

After you climb underneath and check out the oval piping + kink/fold you'll want to get that mid-pipe, team.
It's finally stopped raining and I have a gopro in my hands. I'll get it fixed to the 340 and do a coldstart, rev, and general rowing through gears soon.

The resonator the midpipe replaces is what keeps the car relatively quiet during cold starts. And the AWE exhaust after the midpipe is what prevents drone and (I'm assuming) adds tone. So it seems like having the midpipe only would give you the short end of the stick. Not that I've tried it |

The mid pipe is only applicable to our axleback configuration. The mid pipe + exhaust is very, very satisfying, especially if you're looking for all-out aggression. The exhaust by itself if great, as well, and may be enough to cure your urge for more tone while retaining the stock mid section. You can always add the mid pipe later, if you wanted, but installing both at once would retain your stock system as whole as you won't have to cut at the dimple to install the axleback.
