Just to add... I am no saint averaging 27.9mpg overall as I don't do very much motorway driving, mainly town and country road.

Therefore I don't think 39.6mpg is too shabby! And to put it into a real-world perspective, after having driven 242 miles since filling up, I'm still over 1/2 a tank with a remaining range of 287 miles, giving a range of 529 miles to a tank.

Good these B58 engines

on my now weekly cruise down to London I'm getting 40mpg easy, 45 if I'm steady. The engine is great! so flexible and multi talented it's hard to think of a better car, rapid when you want and relaxed and frugal when you want.

I'd have to agree with that. I've done almost the same mileage as you (9051 to be exact) and my all-time average is 28.7

Mind you, I drive like a nob at every opportunity

Good old Mpg threads, I'm averaging 49 Mpg in mine with occasionally booting which I think is fab, mine is remapped and have alpina gearbox flash. Not bad over 800 miles - sounds shit though lol.
