) she told me the issue with the map updates was due to a problem with the Download Manager software, and a new version had been brought out and to load that after installing the old one.

So uninstalled old one - all good
Install newly downloaded version - all good
Log-in into download Manager - all good
Go to download new maps and ........., same VESEL0008 error - %$@#&

Today Australian ConnectedDrive website not loading my vehicle data. Gave BMW Australia a call, and they said there's a background issue and they will hopefully have fixed by tomorrow (yeh, right

). I asked about the map update issue and told they're still working on it. I explained what BMW Germany had told me and he said they had been told the same, but it didn't work for them. I asked him if the newer software version was on the Australian BMW website, but he said he didn't know. Turns out the map update error VESEL0008 has been known since mid-December, and one month later still no remedy.

From memory, BMW Download Manager failed last year about the same time before new maps were available.

It's the lack of info / feedback from BMW support that's as much frustrating. 1 month and still no fix, that's pretty pathetic service

We are expecting the 2019 map updates to be released late 2019.

If you require a map update, it can be done at an authorised BMW dealership

Yes indeed it did. However, that may have been due to them pulling the map update due to errors it contained. Leastways, that's how I remember it.

Yes, I got the same email. I replied that it was the 2018-2 Map Update I seek. Indeed, calling it the 2019 Map Update at the end of 2019 is plain stupid. And telling me to take it to a dealer is a very poor customer service approach when they tout ConnectedDrive as a service for we owners to use.

It's not as if their sales are up!

EVO 2018-2 map download took about 45 minutes
EVO 2018-2 map unzipped 4.48Gb
Took 5 minutes to complete update in the car
no FCS code requested during update in car (I did get an email from BMW with the code)

Different iDrive models will have different maps. Guess they haven't updated EVO yet. 😒

The NBT Road Map AUSTRALIA NEW ZEALAND EVO 2018-2 is now downloadable using BMW Download Manager (Windows or Mac). BMW Group update maps twice per year.

As the system has been inoperable for nearly a month in January 2019, I recommend following these steps:

Remove the existing (old) Download Manager software from your PC or Mac.
Insert a clean Fat32 or exFat formatted 32Gb flash (thumb) drive in a USB slot on the PC or Mac. (This is where the map will be decompressed to and used in the BMW)
Using your Web browser, visit https://www.bmw-connecteddrive.com.a...x.html#/portal and login.
Click on the HOME tab.
Go down the page to Map Update and click on Details.
At the Map Update page click on Manual map update.
Download the latest BMW Update Manager app for Windows or Mac.
Run Download Manager on your Windows or Mac. Login and download the map update for your car. (4.17Gb Zip file) (BMW will also email you an Activation Code which you won't need, but indicates the update is tailored to your car only by way of its VIN).
When the compressed file is downloaded, it will decompress to the 32Gb flash drive you nominate.
When finished on your PC/Mac, insert the flash drive in your BMW's main USB port.
Press the START button for the car (no brake pedal) and the map will update.

Last year when I updated to Road_Map_AUSTRALIA_NEW_ZEALAND_EVO_2017-2
There was a problem with Real Time traffic info (displayed incorrectly, overlapping)
This issue was fixed in Road_Map_AUSTRALIA_NEW_ZEALAND_EVO_2018-1
Can anyone who updated to Road_Map_AUSTRALIA_NEW_ZEALAND_EVO_2018-2 confirm if the traffic info works properly?
Last year it took several months for BMW to release 2018-1 and I was stuck with the incorrect traffic info display for months.
