H&R springs

Will installing lowering springs on my F30 void any warranty? I've searched and couldn't find a definitive answer. Pls help.

How many years / miles do you have remaining on the factory warranty? Did you lease or purchase the vehicle?

it will only void the warranty if something fails that can be linked to the lowering springs. primarily your shocks will no longer be under warranty if they leak, seize, etc. however that's not likely.

Got it. Thanks. Does your 320i have sport suspension (option code 704)? If not, the shocks on your vehicle are from base suspension, i.e. softer.

Lowering springs are shorter by design, leading to shock being compressed with a pressure or stroke it wasn't originally designed for. The more aggressive the drop, the more shock is forced to operate outside of the original design envelope. If the shock seals fail (and this depends on the shock / spring pairing), you will have to find replacement shocks which will - hopefully - match the new set of shocks.

That's why coilovers are an option worth exploring. Even budget coilovers such as KW Street Comfort will provide properly matched springs and shocks.

do H&R Sport springs increase the handling of the car or is it more for looks? Also, how is the ride?

They enhance the handling while the shocks are still good (at least with the stiffer sport dampers) but compressing the shocks around an inch or more than they were tuned to be will wear them out faster.

It's not uncommon to end up with a bouncy ride rather quick depending on driving and roads conditions
