[QUOTE=chazmink;24420920]I just contacted BavSound about its locking of tuning and other features. Here is their response. I got it quickly so I suspect they have a prepared response on the issue.

. . so theoretically you CAN tune the similar Audiotec Fischer Match UP7BMW yourself but I've had two guys try it so far and both gave up and ended up buying the Revenant. Also the software you need to use is can be more than a bit overwhelming. So... may sound better in theory.

Any thoughts?[/QUOTE

My understanding is the Match UP7 comes with a sound profile installed and one may download various pre-tuned profiles from the Audiotec-Fischer website? Not so? I don't anticipate building a profile from scratch.

However, I'm leaning towards the Match as BAVSOUND has their proprietary "Bass Expander" technology which increases bass at low volumes and gradually diminishes as volume goes higher. Not a fan of introduced bass.

I have the BAV Revenant, but have not installed. Has anyone got expirence with this amp. and stock speakers? Is it tilted toward heavy bass? If so, returning.

That's not exactly new technology, so it isn't proprietary. My current AVR has it. So did the first receiver I owned, back in 1967. Back then it was called a loudness control. Today it goes by a number of names, Dynamic EQ, for example.

I've got the Match 7. It's definitely not easy to set up. I don't feel I'm getting the best from it still yet. Need to buy a RTA mic.

I tried a few of the tunes from the thread about the PP86DSP and they didn't sound great

If more people are getting the Match7 now though hopefully there will be a dedicated thread for Match7 tunes?

I believe you. I was just quoting off their literature.

FYI, UP 7BMW tuning software come with bass xpander too. U can uncheck it if u want. Nothing special for Revenant amp unless u want their tuning with Bavsound speakers combo. If u use other speakers such as my case, no point getting Revenant.

I have the Revenant with all stock speakers and being a kid from the 80s, I want more bass!

I installed mine easily enough and it is great. Even with the top down I can still enjoy my music.

Im guessing the main reason they have locked the tuning part of the amp is so that owners can't just post up the tune and every Match UP7BMW amp owner can copy the tune.

The main deficiency of the OEM amps is the lack of a highly adjustable EQ. The 2 band EQ of the hi-fi is inadequate, and the HK amp has half the number of adjustment frequencies as one would prefer. To offer an amp that has a decent DSP and then render it non adjustable defies all logic.

Do you have hifi?

Run your vin through one of the online decoders and see what radio setup you have.

The match and revenant are both meant to be plug and play with the hifi amp so you’re probably out of luck

Got my PP86DSP tuned up from the retailer specialists, i was only able to enjoy the amp after this setup. He says, same car, same speakers each car can sound diferent. So, try to get someone to do this for you, as there is no special formula for everyone.

But tuning is very subjective, everyone taste of music is different. Some wants more bass, some wants more high, you can’t say that having someone tune it for you means it works well for the tuner but may not work for you.

What happen when you load the default sound profile from match website? Did you not like it?

That is true, but only because of some cars having leather vs cloth, or sunshades vs. no sunshades.

And different seating positions…
