I would use any blackvue camera that is wifi compatible.

Then stick a mifi device in your car, or connect the blackvue to your home wifi.

You will then get a notification on your phone if there is any impact or movement around your car. You can then wirelessly view the footage or live view to see if there are any issues.

DUDE! You're parked on Van Damn right by the LIE? I always cycling to/from work at Queens Plaza to Review Ave all the time. I always see your car there. Man you shouldn't have left it there all the time. People will think it's abandoned and do that... sorry to hear

yea i live right there, lol,

ive been parking there for over a year no issues ever. i normally dont just leave it parked for an extended period.since i work in greenpoint, i drive it to work everyday and leave it in the parking lot.

the people who are doing work there in that empty lot, i think they are finally starting to do something and they need that entire sidewalk cleared. so rather than leaving a note please move the car we are expecting big deliveries they threw a big *** rock inside.

edit : this happened fri night between 8pm - Sat 10am when i went to work again. so its not like it was there for a really long time for anyone to think its abandoned =(

I am surprised it was so much to get fixed, GF had her 3-series window smashed a few weeks ago and Safelite was at the house a few days later, easy job and cost maybe 10% of what you are talking about.

they missed the window either on purpose or accidentally in the attempt to the break the window...the "mini boulder" if u check the pics u will see the grey thing on my carpet... smh

so the entire door is getting replaced. but there is interior damage as well, so the seat is getting replaced and also some other interior trim parts.

there is also a small ding on the drivers side passenger door, that is getting fixed as well.

i pointed out everything to the guy. i want it how it was before this BS occurred.... flawless

Instead of a dashcam, is there a way to use the existing cameras and record video from them?

Check out Xiaomi 70mai Pro.

I also looked at buying BlackVue, or Thinkware, but I just didn't want to spend that kind of money.

Got the Xiaomi Dash cam for 60 quid. A serious value for the camera offers.
A really nice and quality design, its own app, WiFi, Parking monitoring, lane departure warning.

check out some videos on YouTube for reviews

I just bought the Thinkware U1000 with the radar. Highly recommend if you don't mind dropping the cash. 4k up front and 2k rear.

Just do some gooe searches and you'll see a good amount of reviews. In my opinion it's the best on the market at this time.

Solidjake provided perhaps the best advice. Any dash cam - even for $50 - is better than no dash cam.

Hi, I'm
Thinking of getting the same as yours. Do you know if it has motion detection or is just impact detection?

Thanks.

I dont think mine was that much. I think it was more like $600-ish

Blackboxmycar.com has a $50 off promo right now which will make it $449 and then the U1000 radar is only $89.

Those guys were really helpful when I ordered mine in giving me the run down since I was new to the dashcam setup. I still haven't hardwired mine since Ive been super lazy lol

i also looked into the larger SD card and the neo battery pack, i dont really want to rely on the car battery, which bumps up the price significantly..

my car is parked more than it is driven sadly, so i have my own 'needs' if you know what i mean, otherwise i would avoid the neo battery pack.

I felt exactly the same way and that is why I went with the radar. Long story short, it will activate the camera when it sense an object within 15' of the car (or something like that). I don't disagree about having the battery pack as a nice add on but Im not sure if it's really needed with the radar. I never asked for clarification on that. Maybe Ill reach out to them and get their input.

Like I mentioned before, Im still all kind of new to it all and still testing everything out but Ill let you know how it pans out for me and maybe I can shed some more light for you lol

tbh, considering the $1000 deductible i have, it would have paid for the camera easily, however someone on this thread pointed out something very important, what IF the person steals the camera. LOL although it wasn't theft related my vandalism. they just wanted to intimidate me from parking there again.... lol but assuming it happens again, whats to stop someone from just stealing the camera.

if i wanted to have wifi backup i think i need to subscribe to a mobile hotspot and keep it in the car 24/7 which ends up being quite expensive as it is a recurring bill.

so now im rethinking the neo battery pack and my entire setup.

I know for sure i want a camera i just need to figure out what i want to go with and how much im willing to spend.

First one I left go. Guy is like a thousand years old. The front tow hook plate mount got a little bent but I bent it back. I will never park near him. As for the second I did call Gieco but they never got back to me. Little tiny nick on the upper bumper. Put touch up on it.

Here's another vid from last night

Language warning....
