Yes, you can use BimmerCode to code the OEM screen (and also BimmerTech's VividScreen), the two values are common for both screens.

The only difference is that the OEM screen won't work unless you do the coding, whereas VividScreen will work, but will be stretched.

I looked up some videos of Vividscreen and found the installation process a little complicated. Now I am having second thoughts on the upgrade since it also compromises on the warranty.

Sorry this is OT. I am contemplating something different...I have an old IPAD 2 running IOS 9.3.5 (and I hardly use it these days) and felt that I can make good use of it. Just thought I'll bounce the idea with you.

* Position the IPAD in of these 2 places (bottom is preferred since it does not cover the idrive. I'll use a car charger to charge it if reqd.

* Buy an OBD2 BT dongle Keep this dongle always connected at other times and buy an app like Dashcommand to get all the dashboard like stats on the IPAD, which I can glance at when I drive. (actually, I wanted something colourful and jazzy inside the car and that's why I was think of 8.8" upgrade but just the screen would not add colour unless I go for rear camera, navigation, etc.)

* If required, I can also buy one of these wifi rear cameras (not need to go through wiring trouble) and see it on my IPAD but I will have to open the camera app on my ipad each time I backup. Not the best way, but I can keep it on always if I want to see the road behind even while going forward.

Of course, above can be done even by those of you who have the larger screen.

What if I get the correct screen, but my F30 328i wasn't manufactured until 9/2013, but according to the VIN it's actually a 2014 model BMW? Can the screen still be replaced, coded and work without getting a whole new kit setup?

If your iDrive main menu looks like in the picture labeled as "NBT / NBT Evo ID 4", then you should be able to retrofit a larger screen:

My screen is 6,5" and the part code is 9292247 02 6, it will work with the 8.8" with the following part code: 9292248 02 9 ? (looks like both are made by alpine).

Hi guys,
regarding to all what has been written i have an issue with my screen.
I have EVO id4 from 11/16 B140 HW 2.3 and recently i bought 8.8 screen with part no 6 822 626 which is not working - NO SIGNAL problem.
I've tried to code my HU with apix2, mmi, and 24 without success.
Can anybody help my with this?

9292248 should work, given your car was made after 3Q/2014 and you have the HU_ENTRYNAV head unit. PM me your VIN and I can check it for you.

Does your iDrive main menu have tiles or lines of text?

ID5 is not text, but ID4 is, so I'm not getting what your head unit is and what software you flashed?

I bought used unit evo id4 ++, and when I was flashing it in my car with Psdzdata v.4.11.20, it became id5 software unintentional...

I bought the 65506822626 part (from a 2017 M4), coded as follows:

CID_DISPLAY_SIZE = 8.8
CID_DISPLAY_RES = 1280x480
DISPLAY_VARIANTE = breites_display

And works perfectly. I could setup split screen.

One thing is the backup camera image is still small - is there a way to code it to run full screen? I'm searching the forums for that but if there is anyone that has let me know.

Great looking upgrade over the standard low rent 6.5" screen.

Screen 6822626 is for the newer head unit (HU_ENTRYNAV2), it won't work in your car. You have HU_ENTRYNAV, which works with either of these two screens. Coding is required.

It depends what you want - Android offers more features, however, according to reviews in these forums, some Android units lack quality, so choose wisely.

- both screens work ,
- the pre-LCI screen has a blue tint whereas the LCI one doesn't

EDIT: As a side note - my F34 with a 6.5" screen had the DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION value set to "10.25_1280x480" by default... and the 6.5" screen worked okay . The 8.8" screen also works okay without having to change this setting, so all you really need to change is EXBOX > DISPLAY_VARIANTE -> "breites_display"

Just upgraded my screen. 6"5 to 8"8, worked without problems. At the beginning I thought something is wrong, because I became a black screen, but after coding it, everything worked perfectly. The only thing that I did in another way, was changing the display size resolution to 8"8_1280x480. It's also important that you buy the right screen, pre-Lci or the Lci one.
