2013 328i Dragstrip

I went to the opening night of street test and tune at Lebanon Valley Dragway in NY recently and had fun running my car. I have an automatic 2013 328i X-Drive with a N26. Currently the car only has an Injen intake and Dinantronic Sport tuner. Ambient Temperature was roughly 45 - 50 degrees and the car had a full tank of 93 Octane. The runs were as follows:

For my first run, i decided to revert the Dinan Sportronic to stock settings in order to get a baseline time. It was against an STI hatchback and this was my first time at the track in two years. I set the car to Sport + mode and the gear selector to D/S. Needless to say, the car went 14.1 @ 95.47MPH with a 2.086 60FT. I left the STI behind off the line but saw him reeling me in at the very end of the strip. I was surprised i won against the STI however, he ran a 14.6 @ 103 so i reckon he had some troubles.

Second run, i changed to race setting in the dinan tuner which increased boost by +4 psi. Since i do not have launch control coded, I decided to preload the car by brake boosting to 2.5K rpm. After the run, my brother texted me before "Nice!" as i was going to pick up the time slip so i knew i went much quicker. The car feels noticeably quicker in the low end on race setting and ran a 13.687 @ 97.26 with a 2.0 60FT. With the extra torque, i was surprised i had a 2.0 60FT, i was hoping to improve this by the end of the night.

Third run, i decided to try manually shifting the gears while on Sport + mode to see if i could get a faster time. My plan was to shift into second and third at 5500 RPM and the rest at 6K+. I was up against a Camaro ZL1. Again brake boosted and was focusing on on the tree. I got a 0.023 reaction time and ran a 13.859 @ 98.34 with a 2.021 60FT. I was happy to see the MPH increase but surprised i went slower.

Last run, decided to leave the car in D/S relying on the computer to know when it is best for the car to shift. However, i decided to increase the brake boosting to 3K rpm. The turbo was spooling much louder, which my brother heard it from the stands, and the brakes were holding the car in place. I raced against an older 90's? 5.0 mustang and went for it. I ran a 13.668 @ 97.28 MPH with a 1.9 60FT .

Overall, i was content with my time and decided that this was the best the car could do with the current mods so there was no point in going a fifth time, Also i was very hungry. My goals are to get the car past 100MPH and do a 13.1 perhaps. I'm hoping to get a downpipe and an exhaust in the near future and next time i go back i will be adding some race fuel and have 1/4 tank of gas in it. Pictures and videos will be posted ASAP.

Do you know what the DA (Density Altitude) was? I think you can look it up on Drag Times. Will be hard to pick up 3MPH in the quarter without some more serious modifications, but seeing you cut a 1.9 60' is really positive! Downpipe and more tuning could get you there...these turbos love to go, eh.

Glad you had fun!
