"Limp" Mode after Breaks warning?
Yesterday on the highway the brakes warning light came on (Drive Moderately. Replace rear brake pads) which is understood at 50k, but is it suppose to put the car in limp mode??
I had the dreaded Drivetrain Malfunction which puts car in limp mode after driving a few miles. I had this drivetrain malfunction last week but when taken to dealership they couldnt find any problems, so they assumed it was cus of low gas tank. Any ideas what this might be?? Was car put in limp mode cus of the brakes? Or might this be 2 different issues? I had this car less than a month BMW 328i 2013 bought @ 49k miles |

There's only one way to know what causes codes to be thrown, an OBD diagnostic tool.

I was planning on buying scan tool already, but question persists: is the car supposed to be halted after warning you about break pads? Nothing came up last time drivetrain malf. happened

I’ve been through the brake warning, both the initial and the second more urgent and my car didn’t go into limp mode

Mine is a 2015 335i so not the same model but I can’t really see why a brake warning would break the car.
