2015 335 M sport Fog Delete = better cooling?
Sorry if this is answered but I'd like to know more about this. In my searching most 2015 M sports have the fogs installed. Those that don't seem to have M sport brakes which is very cool. So my question is with no fogs is it just for brake cooling or is there other coolers there as well? Thanks

No fogs here on M optioned 435i. That 'empty' space is used for oil and other coolers.

2018 440 no fogs stock configuration. Water cooler behind DS screen. Oil cooler behind PS screen. 4 BMW's since 2011 all with the same configuration from the factory.

If your car has fog lights, the aux oil cooler was not installed. Removing your fog lights provides no benefit.

My car has fogs, and to the left of the passenger fog light there is a hole cut out with what looks to be a cooler behind it. I can take a pic tomorrow

I believe all 335i cars came with an oil cooler on the passenger side. CERTAIN (not all) M Sport models came with an auxiliary radiator on the driver's side and the passenger side oil cooler gains a coolant line. So essentially, the aux radiator probably exists to aid the additional cooling requirements of the water cooled oil heat exchanger. Supposedly this is only installed in countries with extreme weather. Most countries in Europe do not have this option installed.
Only M Sport cars that don't have fog lights have this option, though. I believe it might be bundled in cars with the track handling package. So there are three different configs: 1. If your six cylinder car M Sport car doesn't have fog lights, you have a water to oil cooler on the passenger side and an aux radiator on the driver's side. 2. If your six cylinder car M Sport car has fog lights or you have any six cylinder F30, it has a "passive" oil cooler that simply cools the oil directly in the heat exchanger on the passenger side. The driver's side has no aux radiator. 3. If you have a four cylinder F30, you probably do not have an oil cooler. I'm not 100% on this, though. Maybe some 4 cylinder cars have an oil cooler. |
