Hi guys.

I cleaned the car for the first time in ages and I've neglected the hubs. I've never really owned a car with these massive discs and hubs.

Ive just noticed that the front hubs are manky! I think it's huge build up of brake dust.

Managed to get some off it seems via graft and pure bilberry wheel cleaner. It's in the grooves that's hard to get too.

Is there a lazy way of cleaning them? Can't easily take off the wheels. Perhap iron X or something?

Apologies for poor pics but it was almost dark. Still impressive for a phone!

Here's the front compared to the rears which seems ok.

Thanks

Looks like you did a good job, on my old Audi I used a combo of wire wool and wire brushes to get it shifted. Mind you the hips on the Audi were nowhere near as nice as your and all I did in the end was Hammerite them to stop the problem reoccurring!

Going forward (and depending on your level of OCD) you could always get a detailing brush into those areas when giving it a clean.

Thanks! The top pic is the front and that particular position is ok - some more work to do.

I got some mini wire brushes and bilt hamber wheel cleaner (iron fallout remover) so will see if I can do better.

Appreciate the advice.

I used a small concentration of some acid allow wheel cleaner with a paint brush on mine - and came up without needing to use any wire wool or scrubbing... something like this

Iron X would probably be the least effort.

I put some BH UC on mine when i got it. seems to have kept some of the grime at bay. Of course, its a wheels off job.

have you tried neat Surfex?

I mixed it around 50/50 water - in a small paint pot then jet washed it off.
