Had a call from the M power salesman at my local dealer last week advising that they would like to buy my 440i from me as the demand was high for second hand .... : just happened to coincide with getting my cars first service carried out!
Anyway, I arrived at the dealership and they had a Brand new Tanzanite M4 competition pack sitting ready all warmed up, it only had 11 miles on the clock! First impressions, I loved it... very driver focused, much more of what I though my 440 would have been when I first got it, special place to be in comparison to the 440i with the bucket seats, mirrors, bonnet bulge, head up display etc. However the console isn't that much different to what I have had for the past 7 years in my 335d and 440i, surprised they haven't fitted digital dials. Got down to talking figures and it turns out I've about £7k negative equity in my 40i, my VT point is at the end of the summer so it's a no brainier to wait till then and see what's on offer. However if any of you guys are in that special place to change right now- Eastern Bmw in Edinburgh still have two delivery mileage cars with 0% finance at the moment and over £10k off list price sitting inside the showroom. - M4 competition pack, Champagne quartz with black leather. - M4 competition pack, San Marino with silver stone leather. Anyway settled up my service bill £275. The 440 has a clean bill of health just a slightly corroded brake disk, was told to drive it harder Strangely I didn't come away feeling disappointed when I got back In the 40i. I don't know how some of you guys can change car quite so often !

How funny, I was I was in there just before December looking at colours while debating what 440i to get. They couldn't match another dealer on the same car but they did have some really solid deals on the M4 they had in at the time.
Thanks for the heads up on servicing costs as well! I do like that blue M4 to look at. V nice. |

Sounds more like a fishing expedition by your sales man by giving you warm words to make his sales for Jan. But yes very tempting and they do look good.

If you ever need a quick 'out' from those dealer calls, just tell them that the car has been modified. They hang-up quicker than when you ask a cold caller (normally an ambulance chaser) whether they've heard of the Telephone Preference Service

3 months ago salesman who sold me new f30 330d in 2016 try to flog me a new f30 320d 68plate for extra £50 per month when i asked why would i pay extra 50 for worse car to what i have now, he went quiet, non of them do they homework.
Wife was invited for x2 test drive on launch but she preferred x3 and clearly stated this, no interest at all from dealer. Back on subject M4 great car but personal would prefer 40i as is more suitable on day to day use. |

Love the SMB. Really like the ChQ on screen - not sure I've ever seen one in the flesh...

The post June 18 PPF equipped M4s have softened the noise further though I suspect you would still need to be aware of the cold start... As a daily then, that really just leaves you with financial considerations and tank range... I get 27 mpg so around a 350 mile range - I don't think that would be massively different to the 40i if you are looking to match performance (within the limits of the 40i of course)... At the end of the day an F8X is going to be £20k more than a 40i however you do the sums but I'd say you do get what you pay for... |

OP - Interesting to hear your thoughts on it compared with your 40i. I know that while these M cars have for more power than you can usefully use on a public road, they have much more of a sense of occasion which makes every drive a reward in itself.
Funny how salesmen differ though - the one at my local dealership was utterly useless. Wouldn't budge on an AUC M3CP and when I gave him the spec for a new M4CP and asked for a test drive before signing, I never heard from him again. He couldn't find his arse with both hands basically.

I also spent enough time test driving M4 before making a decision to buy 440i GC. 440i GC is perfect as a daily driver while B58 engine provides plenty of power when needed. Four doors were also important for me.
There is a rumor on BMW Blog that M4 Gran Coupe is coming in 2020. Will be closely monitoring this development. |

For, way back in 2014, when I got my Tanzanite F32 from a Sussex dealer, I used Eastern's fabulous finance 'offers' at that time to get chisel £4k off the price I was offered locally...... AND..........IIRC, at the same time they were offering a dealer contribution of £35k OFF M6's (+ 0% finance)..... They will certainly be on my radar when I go looking for an M850i in a couple of years time........ Wonder if they'll do ChQ on the '8'.....it is rather beautiful Nope, MORA-359 mit 0558_N5CM_Leather, Walknappa/Champagne ist die beste Farbkombination BMW ever produced...sorry, just my humble opinion |

After my 440i GC was written off a few weeks ago, I test drove a M4 CP. I liked it in some ways but it seemed to need more work to make it go fast than the 440i. I could see it being a weekend care but the 440i is a much better daily driver.

I'm not sure, they didn't seem keen on progressing from that figure but others might have a different experience.

That's quite nice TBF. I got £16k off! but not combined with 0% APR.
