Winter Rims and Tires

Has anyone bought any after market winter rims and tires yet? I am trying to find some to buy and haven't had any luck. I was looking for some 18" from tirerack.com but they haven't sized any 3GTs yet and I have m sport brakes too.

Just buy F30 335 setup and add 5 to the aspect ratio. 215/50-18 instead of 215-45/18 etc. the Msport brakes are no bigger than standard 335gt front brakes according to realoem, all 340x30mm

Can I safely derive from this that for my 328GT, I will use F30 328i measures and add 5 aspect ratio as well? So sorry - but I'm clueless on these things and I need to change to winter tires asap.

Just posted on wheel and tire section, but here is repost:

BMW Canada website includes winter package already, and lists sizes for F34 as:

225/55/17 V spoke 395
225/50/18 Star spoke 400M

http://www.bmw.ca/ca/en/owners/acces...figurator.html

I was told that only 395 17's available in US from BMW

My question is:

The original factory tires (on 18" rims) are spec'ed to be 225x45R18
(18" M-Sport staggered ones are 225x45R18 front on 18"x8.0 rims, 255x40R18 rear on 18"x8.5 rims)

Should I buy the same spec tires for winters (another set of 18"x8.0 rims)?
How come so many places are spec'ing 225x50? Why the extra sidewall (and hence bigger wheel diameter)?

That is incorrect those are F30 sizes you're quoting. F34 is one size up on aspect ratio from all other F3x chassis. 225/50 is the correct aspect ratio for F34 in 18". F34 328 is available with staggered 18" wheels in the US, which are 225/50 and 255/45 even though the specs say otherwise in some of the documentation.

See, that confuses me. Though you're probably right.

Does anyone already have a 328i with staggered wheels that can verify? Would be real nice if there's a pic to go with it! You know what, any pic/verification from anyone's F34 with 18" rims would be great!

My 328i GT M-Sport is coming in early November, and I would really like to get winter/snow tires ready for it. I have a set of 18"x8.0" on the way for a squared setup. Just need to decide whether to buy 225x45 or 225x50 now.

Thanks!

The correct size for GT is 225/50-18. Look at all of the other tire sizes including the standard size for square 18". They are all circa 27" tall tires except for the typo on the staggered 18" spec, which is obviously a copy paste error. There is a new Pirelli tire listed as an OEM fitment in 255/45-18 for the GT. The size on the 18" wheels I test drove was 225/50. I don't know how many other ways there are to say it.

Richbot,
Could you provide tirerack wheel item number details? After significant time spent searching for these wheels I'm not able to find them on tirerack.com.
Thanks, Hayseed in NH

Sport edition se17. Use the shop for wheels by car feature. If you can't manage that use the phone, tr has some of the best service in the aftermarket parts industry

Thanks found it - SE-17 Anthracite Painted.

Assuming dealer or BAVauto will have the right emblem for the center cap.

Thanks, Hayseed

I didn't know the 405M's came in anything other than 20". Where did you pick these up? They look great with the AW.

All black 405M only comes in 18", part of winter package tires. The other bi-color 405 are up to 20s I think. Got these at the BMW Dealer
