Thank you WaarrEagle! Will try coding this...any type of TI is helpful in Houston!

For me it does not do this, nor will it even alter the route if there is a traffic issue before you enter the destination.

I see the colored lines reflecting traffic conditions and they are accurate most of the time, but when plotting a destination it takes me right through the problem area anyway.

When my free subscription ends, I have no intentions of renewing.

I won’t repeat what I written before but, it has re-routed me several times. Maybe there is no good alternative.

I was posing the question to WaarrEagle, if he gets auto re-routing with basic RTTI. I do get it with ARTTI, why you don't I can't say.

Sorry, I can’t really answer because I never use route guidance on the nav. I just leave the map up for traffic awareness.

Coded this last night and RTTI is now working for me. Thanks, WaarrEagle!

I get to work early in the morning when the traffic is light and no real need to reroute, and since I carpool, I only drive to work once or twice a week. So, I'll play with it over the next few days/weeks and report back if re-routing works.

My commute is changing soon and I am going to need RTTI to adjust routes. I do not have ARTTI service activated but went out and put in an address to see what would show up and I have destination info on the inset at the bottom of the NAV screen with a car icon and a TI next to it? Is that RTTI? or just the FM info.

The 'over the air' traffic information is called TMC (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traffic_message_channel)... its the same thing you'll see on Garmins etc. with free traffic. Has to be coded as per the messages in this thread. The computer, at least in the USA, is not programmed to 'fail over' to TMC if your traffic subscription ends. Also I would imagine if you re-subscribed after coding, you will have to undo it.

From my experience it's not as good as the real time traffic, but its acceptable (7 or 8/10). Takes a few min to update when you start the car. Sometimes noticed if you zoom out a lot and back in, it will 'lose' the traffic information. Dynamic routing etc. still works as well.

Do you have a SIRIUS radio subscription that is active? I thought this was FM based, but I'm not getting any traffic where I am. I did see mention of "HD radio" which I'm assuming (possibly incorrectly) as SIRIUS radio.

HD is digital radio broadcast over the airwaves, Sirius is satellite.

When people say update maps, are they talking about the updates that, every once in a while, download to the car?

Newer model BMWs can update the Maps automatically over the air (If you have the options). My 2014 428i is not capable of this so I have to buy the update and install via USB port. Cost was $50 US and brought it up to 2019 - 2 map version.

Can someone please verify that if you have RTTI working in your vehicle that you see TI or RTTI on the lower inset (when destination is input into NAV). I really need to find out what it says when you have paid for ARTTI. Thanks for any feed back.

I think mine is evo 5 in the 2017, no rtti or anything displayed. Yes it shows the real time traffic, accidents, etc. Also from connected drive:

ADVANCED REAL-TIME TRAFFIC INFORMATION
BMW’s Advanced Real-Time Traffic Information System sends up-to-date traffic reports directly to your BMW, allowing you to choose a new route and avoid delays. Available subscription periods may differ by model.

This service has been subscribed to your BMW "******" until 06/**/2021.

It can be extended once you are within 3 months of service expiration.

If you pay for it, it should say RTTI (at least that's what mine did when my subscription was active).

Oh, perhaps it's just when you are navigating a route. I'll try that later today when I pick up the kiddos!

Yes as far as I know, you need to put in a destination to see the lower inset box showing the time to destination, the car icon and the letters TI or RTTI. Thanks for the input and look forward to what you see when picking up the Kiddos. If you could take a pic with your phone that would be great too.

I just sent the school address to the car with the connected app. I'll jump out there and fire it up in a few.

No love in nav mode, but I'm not actually driving. I'll try again later when in motion. But I do have RTTI per my account, as posted above.

No RTTI or any other displayed icons in motion that would indicate it.
