So this is why I just went for a 3 year PCP on a 640d ...I figure by the time I get out my current deal we should be in the sweet spot of the G20 era

I don't get why everyone hates X-drive so much. I adored X-drive on my 330d. It was almost comical how good the traction was. Almost any conditions, any situation, with the traction control on, you bury your right foot to the floor and it just all stayed completely planted and shot forward like a startled cat. unbelievable.

By contrast, I've scared myself twice in my rear wheel drive 640d in less than 2 weeks of ownership, and I'm terrified of snow this winter.

Fairly convinced most people who hate X-drive have not driven it. It's also great fun at the lights knowing that you can absolutely obliterate ANYTHING off the line.

You can by the way - even rear wheel drive cars with better claimed 0-60 times are actually very hard to get perfect starts from, but the X-drive will give you perfection every single time.

Most useful was when pulling out of a side road onto a fast main road, where the side road has a loose gravelly surface. That can be a bit scary if you go for a gap and suddenly get loads more wheel spin than you expect - never happens in an X-drive..just finds the traction and away you go.

Me too.

I’m setting myself up for the G20 sweet spot, or maybe even the next M140i/130i sweet spot.

Can wait to see the real details on the next 3 and the next 1.

Yes, that rear 3/4 is pretty promising. That looks fantastic, most likely it's the 340i from the wheels/tyres combo.

Anyone else see the bobbles in the rear lights, part of the camo I assume?

You can also see it's got thto vertical air exit vents on the rear bumper a bit like th e M2 where the reflectors are.

But that’s just down to variables with the machine/testing/car, the official figures are 360hp so that’s what we need to compare to.

If BMW says the M340i is 385hp then maybe it will show over 400 on Daves rollers!

2 years left on my PCP... amazing coincidence.
Race ya!
If it's as good as I hope it will be the would be happy to chop in the lease early as well.

My guess is the M340i is more powerful than the 340i with MPPSK.
It makes sense.

Remaps are showing the 340i to do 400+ quite easily so it makes sense for BMW to sell it as a step up.

Also 385bhp is nothing in a barge when you see the A45AMG or the S3 with their power.

RS3 is more akin to a full M car than an M Performance though isn’t it?

Indeed it's S vs M Performance and M vs R.S. but what I think he was saying is some of the hyper batches are pushing 400BP themselves so in a mid/large saloon 385 isn't mind blowing....although we'd all struggle to hit 385 each day in actual use.

It is incredible how peoples expectations just keep growing so quickly, it was only 5 minutes ago that the E46 M3 was the daddy, and it ‘only’ had 343bhp!

Current 'base' aka non CP M3 family saloon has 0.1 gap to a Ferrari F40. Bedroom posters from the 80s

Time moves on. Some battery shite will tear the F40 a new one these days (and then need to stop for 3/4hr to charge).

I’ve timed my car 0.1 secs faster to 60 than an F40! (and that was with my old single channel tuning box)
