i suppose everyones interpretation of bulge, stretch and square could be different. i feel 255 on my 8.5" is bulging slightly on my 441M. and 255 on 9.5" appears slightly stretched to me. so that leaves 255 on 9" is square. here is my 255/40/18 on a 18x9" volk g25. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...6&postcount=10

here are 513M 18x9 +29 with 255/40/18 up front from an M. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...7&postcount=16

you can really see how stretched 255/40/18 is on the 19x10" rear.

Thanks a lot buddy, I hope I wasn't very annoying, really appreciate all the info. One last question, for 18x8.5 ET35 will 255/40/18 create a huge bulge? I like some tire bulge to protect the wheels from curb-rash. On the other hand, 18x9 ET35 will be 13.7mm closer to the suspension and poke out 11mm more, might be an issue for the front wheels on sharp turns? Also a tad bit heavier than 18x8.5 which should not impact the performance, but yeah the 255 will sit with a much lesser/no bulge.

i know that tires have different cross section shapes, curb protecters, etc but here is my own list of tire width/wheel width, no stretch or bulge, for lowish profile tires. you can usually go 10mm wider(bulge) on a given width but the slammed/stanced guys go lower20-40mm(stretched to retardedly stretched)

205-6.5"
215-7"
225-7.5"
235-8"
245-8.5"
255-9"
265-9.5"
275-10"
285-10.5"
295-11.0"

8.5" with 255 is just 5mm of bulge, it's virtually unnoticeable unless you compared it to a 9" side by side. i actually like the protection as well.

okay, between 8.5 +35 and 9" +35 and even 9.5" +35. the position of the tire is the same place on all three. the 8.5" will have a bulge, the 9" will be square, and the 9.5" would show a slight stretch. i wish i could draw it out.

i have not read where anyone rubbed with 255/40/18, +35 offset. if you were to go +28 the tire would probably rub the fenderwell liner during full lock turn

Okay I've made up my mind, 18x9 ET35 square setup with 255/40/18 I saw a picture of 255/40/18 on 8.5 and the stance of your setup from the link you posted (255/40/18 up front on 9") looked much better. The bulge was a bit pronounced on 8.5". I can finally go to sleep now. lol. Thanks a lot buddy.

Finally ordered 18x9 and they said they(modbarg...) are out of stock for gunmetal, they do have silver and matte black, initially I was looking for black but it kinda makes the wheel design disappear
They do have 18x8.5 but I don't want the bulge from 255 size tire and I also like the 11mm spacer like poke on 18x9, plus they will be more concave too. I guess I'll keep looking alohasurftoad

Ahhh. That's unfortunate. 18x9 +35 is an uncommon size.

I'm going with Konig Ampliform Graphite Metallic, 18x8.5 ET32. A little bit like FL-5 but the spokes extending all the way to the edge of the lip makes Ampliform look bigger. Plus much cheaper than Apex, same flow-formed construction, and a way better color choice in my opinion.
