I don't think I felt any difference in Eco mode but Comfort got more responsive, yet smooth, felt a big difference in Sport mode, much more aggressive shifts. After the coding, I liked switching to Sport mode by sliding the gear lever to left, felt like it was somewhere between the Comfort mode and Sport mode(by hitting the Sport mode button). But as I mentioned earlier it did kinda act strangely in the beginning in lower gears.

SAT coding w/ BimmerCode

Hi,

I coded SAT and Sport+ mode to my 2017 F30 318d (2.0 diesel) using BimmerCode app yesterday. Sport+ mode works fine but I have a few questions about the SAT maybe someone here has the answer to:

1. My car doesn't have the 2TB option from the factory, it has the 205 regular 8-speed automatic transmission. Regular shift knob (not the sport), no paddle shifters. I also checked the VIN to make sure and again, no 2TB, just 205 automatic. But, my car'd showed "S1, S2, S3, ..." before the SAT coding from the factory. Maybe all cars have it after a certain model year?

2. I don't feel much of a difference in shift speeds after the coding. I still see the same "S1, S2, ..." so no change there. So to make sure SAT was coded correctly, I checked if it upshifts automatically at redline in Sport+ and Manual mode, and yes it still does upshift. Anybody experienced this? Maybe because my car is a diesel?

The BimmerCode app codes FDL, and for SAT coding, it codes EGS:

sportschalter_alt = active
sportschalter = active

It said coding was completed successfully. No error messages.

Any ideas? Maybe some cars don't support SAT?

Does the sport transmission change the manual mode behaviour? I dont have paddles in my car but when I use the stick in manual mode I think there is a rather long delay after I have pushed lever forwards or backwards before the gear is actually changed. I am not sure should I activate sport auto or not.

How to?

Thnx
If you have the bimmer code app, log into it and at the bottom you will see an option to code the sports auto trans. Let it do its thing, disconnect, and drive away.
I searched around and haven't really found an answer to this, but I know that prior to BimmerCode, coding sport auto would reset any other coded features in your car and you'd have to recode all the other things you coded prior to sport auto.

However, now that you can code sport auto with BimmerCode, does that still hold true?

No, does not reset previously coded options. I feel as if it resets the transmission parameters back to a "learn" mode. I always feel smoother shifts right after coding or "uncoding" sports AT

You FDL code or VO code and switch back to without paddle, not both.

Editing FA alone does nothing, you have to VO code car.

Entire car not needed.

1. Read FA
2. Save FA
3. Edit FA > Remove 205 & add 2TB > Save FA.
4. VO code FEM, EGS, DSC, ICM, KOMBI, & HU.
5. FDL Code FEM. PADDLES_VERBAUT = nicht_aktiv

It does work (after one very short test drive)! Although in some respects it is a subtle change.

In Auto and Eco Pro/Comfort on E power (driving very conservatively) it almost feels very slightly smoother.

In sport/+ modes and manual it is much better. It stays in the gear you select rather than changing down automatically (the biggest problem I had). Gear changes although not instant are just a bit crisper. You just feel that you are in charge of the gear selection where as previously it was just disconnected.

Its not a DSG box so it is never going to be instant, but the coding is an improvement in my opinion for the 330e
Hi there,
I also really need to get better shift-response on my 2018 F30 330e !
Can you please get in touch and let me know your experiance up until niw
after your mod to 2TB sport automatic transmission.
Is the gearbox / elektromotor drivetrain still working as it should ?
Does the gearbox shift faster when downshifting and does it rev the engine up
(throttle blip) for downshift ?
Can you tell me what exactly you did to make this happen ?
I was thinking on using the bimmercode-app to code this into the transmission-ecu.
Does the dealership know you did this change ? Does it void warranty ?

Hope to hear from you.

Thanks in advance !

I ask because others say it's enough to VO code just FEM, EGS, ICM and KOMBI.

Don’t code a 330e for sport transmission.
It was never a option as far as I know.

It is difficult to make blanket determination. It will all depend on starting point. But, it will not cause any harm to do more.

HU is for the sport menus on IDrive.

DSC may not be needed.

To compare files to determine if any changes are made:
1. Read Coding Data
2. VO code or use E-sys coding Verification to generate files
3. Open each in FDL-Editor
4. Save as FWL
5. Compare with program of choice (eg, Beyond Compare)

Hybrids get 2TE rather the 2TB.

Hi,

Weird issue coding 2TB. I have a 2019 F20 118i with 205. I first of all FDL coded this:
EGS/3000 Applikation -> Sportschalter_alt -> aktiv
EGS/3000 Applikation -> Sportschalter -> aktiv

I didn't really notice any difference at all. The car already has Sport+ and it already shows S1, S2, S3 etc when the gearbox is in manual mode and it already has the Sports Display on iDrive, so none of these methods can tell me if it's working. The driving feel is the same.

So I tried to VO code it instead. I changed 205 to 2TB, then coded EGS, ICM, KOMBI as instructed. But then going into FEM_BODY to turn off the paddles, the paddles are already off because FEM_BODY isn't coded. But when I code FEM_BODY my 2TB reverts back to 205.

I have triple checked that the 205 to 2TB change has correctly taken place by reading it from the ECU after writing it. It is definitely changed, but then when coding FEM it changes back. How can this happen and why is it happening?

VO isn't changed from 205 to 2TB
Or you changed the VO but didn't load the changed VO because you read and activated the VO from the car (which isn't changed).

VO was coded to the car with "Write FA FP" and then confirmed with "Read FA FP". 2TB was present when read from the cars ECU. It only changed back to 205 after coding FEM_BODY.

Are you saying if I already had been in expert mode, coding, and had already read the FA before I changed to 2TB, that causes this problem?

So I should change to 2TB, write FA FP, expert mode coding, then read, activate fa, code ecus. I'm pretty sure this is how I did it already anyway.
