Hi guys,

Sorry for hijacking this thread! I retrofitted a Harman Kardon amp and ASD module to my 2015 F56 Mini Cooper. The ASD came from another F56, with another engine, mfr date somewhere in 2016. I injected new CAFD files into the module, that all went well, but now I can't hear the engine sounds through the speakers. FDL had the wrong engine selected, so I selected the correct one, but no luck there.

Do I need to flash the module to get the sound working? Can I flash it with an I-level below that of the mfr date? Or should I just use the latest one? I don't mind it only having the sound for my engine.

After you injected the new CAFD did you also code the ASD (button „Code“)?
And then I think the new ASD has too newer software.
In 2015/2016 the Software was changing so that it was no more possible to change the sound of the ASD.
So you can change it, but the sound doesn't change anymore.
You can try to flash an older software.

Hello Guys,

I have a problem with downgrading ASD. I have a problem with downgrading to the older software. I have Esys 3.26 and data v54
When I try to flash ASD with this data Esys write "success" in green but the ECU software are still the same. It takes around a minute to flash it.

Is the downgrading process different from just flashing the ASD? Also is it possible to flash 2017 ASD module with 2015 year psdzdata?

Please advise. Logs from ESYS attached

Guys, do you have any ideas why it happens?
Please advise

I am at this point as well with my retrofitted ASD. I have flashed 3.55 but it took only a second to complete and I still had no CAFD files. Note that I had to set shipment I-level to 3.55 as well as I have no idea what it was before and I can't choose a newer one than the one I'm trying to flash.

I injected CAFD from the latest psdzdata lite 4.28.41 using E-sys 3.33 so now I have the settings but no audio. I tried a bunch of settings that has worked for others, to no avail.

My ASD comes from a m140i 2019 so I tried resetting it to "F020 with B58" and B58B30 but still no engine noise. I'm not sure if this was the original setting for this ASD module, I guess it needs to be the exact setting to work.

It seems my 1 second flash was no good. After some more research I found that since this is a retrofit I have to either modify my FA to a typecode which includes an ASD module. Alternatively edit the soll xml file manually.

I chose the first option and edited the FA to typecode 3C17 which is a US 328i that has ASD. Then generate soll and tal files from that, following the "upgrading ecu on BMW v.1.0.1.pdf" guide.

The flash took 5 minutes, as it should, and I got the CAFD file as well. Still no sound though, I have to try more coding combinations next.

Never mind, it was just so much quiter than the M140i settings. It seems it defaulted to 328i (F030, N20B20) because of the vehicle order (?) and I couldn't hear it when I didn't drive around. It absolutely works. I changed power level to TL to make it match my noisy diesel revving and I'm happy with the results.

Hi
I retrofitted HK and ASD on my car.
HK AMPT with asd support.
ESYS coded HK and ASD without problems editing FA to f31 340i
Unfortunately i have no sound from ASD.
HK work perfectly
Any hint?

no errors on ista at all, the only thing i found is about RAD_ON

According to diagrams, ASD ha two RAD ON,
One from HK, on pin 7, and one from HU on pin 13.
I checked both

The one on HK is present,
the one from hu is not present and pin 13 is not populated.
My car is a f31 07/12
i wired a cable from pin 13 a42*1b (hu) to pin 10 A233 (ASD)
Nothing changes.

I too have retrofitted ASD module from M3 and the only combination that gives sound is F80/S55, otherwise the module is silent. I have tried to flash 3.55.0.100 (2015) and v54 (2014) data files and coresponding coding files but with no help. Flashing was successfull with some jumping through the hoops but thanks to the forum Module name is HS B224. Car is diesel F30. Now I am scratching my head -- what's next?

Today I selected F30 and N20B20 combination and vualá it works! In Comfort mode it is barely noticeable but in Sports mode its very clear and loud. Maybe it is because I was used to M3 sound that why I didn't notice in the beginning.
