New to BMW

Hey, got my first BMW about a week ago. I hope this forum is as good as my tacoma one is.

Got a question, so the service light came on and for the oil it says something like "need oil service 02/2019 in 9000 miles"

Why is the service light getting triggered if I have 9000 miles left before an oil change?

Because its 02/2019 so the light went off.

Its saying change at 9000 miles or at 02/2019 which is a year from when they changed it last.

The car will always remind you of time until next oil change. Every time you start the car.

Over time, the 9000 figure should decrease.

Open your iDrive menu, go to Vehicle Info>Vehicle Status>Service Required. Assuming you have a 15,000 mile or one year, whichever comes first, oil change interval what you're seeing indicates the last oil change was in 2/18 and the car has driven 6,000 miles since then.

It's called condition based services, so either mileage or time changes the figure, seeing as you just bought the car, if it's from a BMW dealership they shouldve taken care of all the cbs services prior to sale.

Same thing here. I picked up the vehicle new 4th of Jan. and by end of Jan. (1700 km later) it shows need Service Required (Oil Change) 02-2019 or 14,000 km. Scheduled appointment with the dealership and 1st service done

. It's BMW's Condition Based Servicing (CBS).
