Anyone try the V2? Scheduled for this week, but not sure about it. My dealer has a leftover V1 if I want to take a chance.

V1 will eventually give you issues.

Mine was great for several thousand miles and then engine faults cropped up. They didn't go away until I disconnected the whole unit

I guess I’ll knock on wood but I’ve had mine for about 12,000 miles and have had no issues except for having to use better gas.

The dealer installed it so I don’t know if they had any CEL issues when done or not. They didn’t say anything and I didn’t ask.

I had v1 for awhile and then all of a sudden drivetrain malfunction and limp mode. Dinan swapped a la my dealer for v2. Rock solid ever since. I didn't notice any power loss, but I did get CAI at same time so that could be why.

I'd say go for v2. Companies don't end of life products (i.e. v1) dramatically if there isn't a fundamental flaw.

Drove about 150 mile so far. It'll pull, shift, pause for a second, pull again. Not to happy about that

yup time to go back to stock or flash - as I'm sure you are well aware....what you are experiencing is pretty common with piggybacks

For me it was nothing I was willing to tolerate for whatever gains I was getting

I need smooth linear power delivery and shifts from start to redline / you'll likely never be happy with it - might be time to return the unit to Dinan and get your money back

ps-not Dinan bashing here...I like Dinan - I just don't like piggybacks by anyone for our cars

well then you know what you are doing :-) I think where you are at you can at least get 93 - I was running one in CA on 91 and it was really really bad -

for me there are really only three options: stock, MPPSK, Flash (starting with or without MPPSK). You know what they say....once you go flash you never go back

I had a rather bad past with flashes also, maybe waiting the warranty out and staying stock. Well I do have MPPSK though.

Installed the v2 on my 18 440ix GC and definitely feel the difference at 3500+ RPM. Going to get on it a bit more tomorrow and will report back any additional bits of note.

I noticed that as well. It helps the lag below 3500 but really kicks when you open up.

So... What is your overall impression now that the tune has settled in? Worth the price of admission?

Thx

The power transformed my car so I will say 100% go for it. Warranty is big for me so I went dinan, but I can understand the want for flash for others.

I've done multiple flashes and I trust a piggyback more these days with the factory DME left to its own logic. I'm in the minority I'm sure, but I also ran 5 different piggybacks and never had a good experience with JB4/stage1, and a jerky delivery from AA active-8.

That’s very interesting. I am not sure I would trust a box to alter signals to the DME making it think things are one thing when they really aren’t... interesting.

Personal experience. Protunes and flashes (APR, Cobb, GIAC) all had issues. If we are talking Bmw MPPK flash, 110% preferred. I don't trust after market engineers rewriting all the tables, eliminating bmws stock code. From experience, I have been safer with leaving Bmw tables to figure out these conservative additive 3-4psi boosts targets. Also with the b58 from what I understand, piggybacks work quite well due to the wideband O2 sensors for AFR. Seems to be fine for me so far.

Going to Atco or NE Dragway anytime soon? Interested to see track times and I’ll be happy to come down and provide some friendly competition!
