The trunk button retrofit works both with OEM and aftermarket power trunks. The FEM is behind the kick panel on the opposite side to driver's seat, so for UK specced cars it's on the left hand side.

Button + 3 pin connector from China, therefore this retrofit costs me less than 15 EUR. Last edited by yuwhehe; 06-23-2022 at 08:50 AM.. |

Hello!
I need help installing a trunk opener button under the steering wheel. I have a f30 320d 2017 sedan. I have looked at this product and it seems that there are 3 wires black, red and blue, that I need to connect. I have no idea how or where to connect them, do you have a manual that can help me or do you guys have any information that helps me. Thanks |

I connected pin1 (RED) to gray/red and pin 2 (BLACK) to brown wires of the driver footwell light and pin 3 (BLUE) to FEM A173*2B - Pin 37. it works perfectly without coding. |

I've recently purchased an F30 and I miss not having a trunk opening button inside the car!
This looks like one of the cheapest mods that I'll have done so far (apart from removing the phone cradle in the armrest!), and would like to give it a go. Some silly questions; 1. When you talk about connecting up the cables to grey/red, brown, etc, how are you actually doing that? The pics on here of the wire harnessing shows a metal connector on the end. Would I need to strip this off. 2. I haven't bought the parts yet, so not sure if this will be a problem or not, but are the wires long enough to go from the button position to either the centre armrest or to the position of A173*2B? Any if anyone has any tips on how to route those wires too, that'd be great. Thank you! |
