Hello,
Picking a larger intercooler will not increase turbo lag unless you go with one that is either poorly designed or too large for your mods.

This is why it is very important to check with your vendor if you are not sure which intercooler is best for your power goals.

Don't know if its the case on the F30 but I had this issue on my Mitsu/DSM with the stock turbo and a bigger than stock FMIC so yes Mike you are both right. I had terrible turbo lag in that instance due to the turbo being to small to work with the bigger aftermarket FMIC until I went with a bigger turbo. With the smaller turbo you have to run alot of boost for it to work with a bigger FMIC most times. Again not saying that about the F30 just my experience with another platform.

There is such thing as too big of an intercooler.

It's always about finding a happy medium of size and flow.

Move the air too fast and it doesn't have time to cool. Move it to slow and you create lag but better cooling.

You also have to take into a account the type, design and size of the turbo.

It's safe to say that the quality street options for this platform are well within reason and should not create any extra lag.

are in agreement. I did say that Mike and the poster he responded to were

both right as well ,and Mike, you and I explained the instances, you were even more

specific. Good stuff thanks!

Sorry I didn't clarify, I was agreeing with you - just adding to it.

For those still unsure, when in doubt, ask a professional

I stenciled the ///M logo on it last night. I know a lot of people think putting ///M on the car is kind of weak since its not an M3 and I went back and forth on it several times because of that. But at the end of the day, my car came with the ///M logo plastered all over the interior, so what the hell. Looks pretty cool! Now I just don't know if I should hit it with a layer of clear to protect from rock chips....
I think the //M looks fantastic and I am thinking I want that too. Where did you get the logo and paint if you don't mind? Great job !

No point in a big ic for street use. Get a small one.

When you raise.the boost like we discussed you will certainly see why a bigger one comes into play. You need to test first before making a reasonable conclusion.

I opted for VRSF race on stock turbo and see very little ill effects from size. IAT's drop like a rock when I get in the throttle compensating slight pressure drop or lag with much cooler charge air which I think is a fair trade.

I believe it. The VRSF Race HD is really set up as a high quality street FMIC car with capability on the track. It's all about a happy medium.
