Dinan, can you explain this:
Special Note: Installation may require Dinan P/N D763-0157 Cover Plate Kit.

How does one determine this?

My understanding is there is the possibility that you may need a plate if your lower air box is one that is a replacement part (not original or the MPPK lower box). Its pretty rare but possible if you got into an accident and had engine work done or something where the original box was damaged and needed to be replaced. You can consult the installation instructions on the website to see exactly what is being referred to on figure 9 of page 6.

I'm torn between buying now, or waiting a few months for a Dinan special. I got screwed when I jumped on the Bav speakers through Dinan - price drop happened 6 months later!

How are Bav speakers? I believe they make a Mini system and I am considering it for my wife.

The looks alone just might justify their relatively high price. The CF is really nice.

Dinan,

I believe I read that this intake uses the bottom half of the OEM airbox. If that's the case, is it actually a disadvantage having the MPPK airbox with the extra "hole" in it because it would let in more hot air? Have you tested the intake with the MPPK airbox and seen the same gains (same delta)?

Same delta with the MPPK lower airbox. That extra hole does more for the sound then any additional performance.

Pretty kick ass, really notched up the HIFI system!
If you get them on special, a no brainer!

N55 Carbon Fiber Cold Air Intake
for F22 M235i, F3x 335i and F3x 435i

Available May 8th, 2015. Pre-order yours today!

Due to high demand and production limitations this product is highly susceptible to a back order. We are working as quickly as possible to increase production capabilities and fulfill orders but please be aware there may be delays in shipping.

Efficiency and maximizing the potential of the stock intake design were the keys to development for this N55 intake. Our sealed system delivers as much cold outside air as possible to the engine via an optimized carbon fiber tube that mimics the stock pipe but with less resistance with a straighter freer flowing design. The increased amount of air feeds into a larger volume air box complete with a larger filter that elicits a sporty tone that makes the intake sound as good as it performs. This optimized design yields an incredible 10 HP and 15 lb-ft of torque even without any additional modifications. Simply perform the short bolt-on installation in under an hour and enjoy a more powerful and audibly satisfying driving experience.

View the product page HERE for pricing and ordering information.

Benefits of the Dinan Carbon Fiber High Flow Air Intake for the F22 M235i, F30/34 335i and F32/33/36 435i:
  • More Power: +10 HP & +15 lb-ft of torque without additional modifications
  • Even more power can be achieved when combined with the DINANTRONICS Performance Tuner and exhaust. Consult the applicable DINANTRONICS product page for details.
  • Sportier Sound
  • Larger volume air box that completely seals
  • Optimized carbon fiber intake tube
  • Larger cylindrical air filter
  • Larger MAF
  • Quick and easy installation

Attachment 1193170

Stage 2 DINANTRONICS Performance Tuner
For the F30 335i F32/33 435i F22 M235i

With the release of the cold air intake for select N55 engines stage 2 DINANTRONICS is now possible on those select models. The combination of the tuner, exhaust, and intake provides less restrictive air flow and ultimately unlocks tremendous power that can only be described as "awe inspiring". Capping out at 382 HP and 455 lb-ft of torque on the M235i and certain MPPK (M Performance Power Kit) models the transformation stage 2 can have on your car is overwhelming. After all an increase of ~20 HP and 25 lb-ft of torque over stage 1 is hard to ignore.

Below are a few iterations of the performance graphs but just like their stage 1 counterparts on these models there are a great deal of variation so please consult the appropriate product page to get the exact numbers of the vehicle in question.

Remember that if you already have stage 1 installed you will only be required to pay the difference from stage 1 to stage 2 which is $250.

Attachment 1193171
Attachment 1193172

Preordered. Looking forward to the 25hp bump.

No, I didn't plug the opening in the MPPK airbox....but was curious if it would affect the cold air aspect of the Dinan intake.

Same delta with the MPPK lower airbox. That extra hole does more for the sound then any additional performance.
So the extra hole does not let extra hot air in....thus negating some of the "sealed cold air" benefits of the Dinan intake?

Dinan, you send us a totally NEW MAF with this kit?
If so, that price is pretty competitive if the intake tube is also CF.
Thanks for clarification on materials...
