You guys are going to drop $600 on 1/2 an air cleaner the maybe maxes at 10 advertised horsepower & don't even read the instructions?
Only need to drill (into the plastic lower filter box) when equipped with the "snow valve." My car doesn't have this.

Snow valve? Can you explain? I was going to do this myself, but if there's drilling then I'll have to rethink. I took my intake apart with the instructions prior to ordering and missed this!

For us with the MPPK, is it better to use the original bottom part of the intake box or the one replaced when PPK was installed with the hole?

The much larger engine inlet provided by the MPPK lower airbox HAS to help, but the Dinan rep here said they measured no difference between the two. I wonder if that conclusion was arrived on the dyno only.

LOL< i think I threw my old one out!
And I assume, then, that those with MPPK don't have a Snow Valve, so no drilling?

There are a few out there already. Whether or not any of those individuals that are getting some of the pre-ordered dealership units are Bimmerpost members remains to be seen though. Good news is it appears that our production dilemmas are being resolved quicker then anticipated. Unfortunately, our back orders are still 100's deep at this point so its going to still be a month until we get our head above water and catch up with the demand.

Hoping to have my pre-ordered intake for my first track day this year June 19.

You should be fine. Anything that is pre-ordered already should be going out in May unless it was ordered in the last week or so then perhaps not.

Does anyone have any user feedback on the intake? Are the gains noticeable (stock/MPPK)?

Also, is the filter disposable, or reusable?

Filter is reusable and comes with washing instructions.

Disclaimer; my butt dyno is not precisely calibrated and I've only had the vehicle two months... First BMW as well. I'm stock with the exception of Dinan exhaust and intake.

I didn't notice any significant changes before and after, perhaps a slight whirling noise with the windows down in some instances... but I didn't expect anything substantial. I trust there are slight gains and the engine can breathe better. Further, my reasoning for the intake is that I will likely go stage 2 at some point.

Did the sound change at all? Did you have completely stock prior or MPPK?

I was stock ECU with Dinan exhaust prior to installing the intake. Then added the intake.

To me, there was not a significant change in sound - but I think the exhaust noise drowns out any appreciable sound from the intake. Like I said, sometimes I hear the whirling noise... but otherwise, I can't say there is a lot of difference.

Keep in mind this is just one guy's perspective. I'm pleased with Dinan and their products.

I was also curious about the sound, as personally the AFE intake I had before with its swishing/whistling was not my taste and so I went back to stock. Looks like the Dinan intake is more my cup of tea, thanks.

I just put a deposit down from the local Canadian Dinan dealer. Should get it in a week or two.

I checked my OEM intake out, and there is a snow filter installed.

You would think having the hole in the MPPK big would be a negative effect. It's drawing hot air in from the engine bay.

The MPPK's additional opening faces forward and is near the backside of the headlamp housing. This isn't anyplace near the hot engine bay, especially when the car is moving and air is flowing rearward.

Dinan,

Have you guys run any tests on the dinan stage 2 running with the MPE and the MP intake?

Any ideas on what power differences can be expected compared to running the stage 2 with the dinan intake and the dinan exhaust.

I read in another post that u mentioned that the exhaust won't make too much of a difference, but how much difference would the MP intake make vs the dinan intake?
