You finally modded one?
Yeah I did. It's in a buddies car at the moment with VRSF DP and res delete. I'll grab a video for you if you want. I have it on drive.

Just like the one from this thread correct? How soon? I am interested in purchasing it!
Should hopefully be off in a few days. I will be trying to clean up the welds I made when I opened it up.

HI Everyone, just wondering how much louder will this mod give comparing to the stock muffler. I already have the ER 300 cell down pipe installed, and I am planning to mod my 328i with 335i muffler.

right now i am deciding if i should keep the muffler untouched, just cover half of the holes, or cover all holes.
The area i am at is pretty strict on the mod muffler sounds, but i do hope to have the deep roaring tone through this mod.

I have discussed with a local muffler shop, they said covering all holes is pretty much like a straight pipe sound which will be quite loud.

Anyone has any suggestion on how much louder comparing to the stock sound? It is really hard to tell from the computer speakers.

Do you think covering all holes will easily piss off the neighbors at night? Also, for under 3000 rpm, the sound is just like stock muffler right?

Thank you!

No you won't piss off the neighbors at night but you'll piss then off in the morning at cold starts lol

It's about 25% louder thank an m performance muffler with a down pipe. Cruising it won't be insane or obnoxious, it can get a little annoying under 2k rpm in comfort or eco mode as it likes to keep rpm super low and exhaust vibration and frequency is high then.

Has anyone tried just welding the side with the flap? I'm still a little worried about this being too loud with dps

I just want to know how many people were able to get this done... i went to two muffler shops and both said they dont do muffler mods like mentioned. They would remove my resonator for $40/$60 but not the mod.

Do i just give up on the dream? Should i just drop $500 on a used mpe?

Damn! That thing sounds great! Anyone in the Bay Area have this done so I can hear it in person? Would this be a 1 day endeavor if I brought it to a shop?

OP, that sound is amazing! The muffler design on this car is excellent. Not only does it flow well, by the second chamber tunes the sound very nicely and on top of that, the design of the muffler box is purposely like that to help flow air out from underneath the car. Very good design. The modified muffler sounds excellent with a resonator intact and even better with catless DP’s, love it.

I had a question regarding a muffler that looms very similarly designed. Do you think this one is the same design? Thank you

Very nice welding and craftsmanship skills by the way!

Hard to tell but it has to at least have a Helmholtz chamber in there somewhere in the middle. I found out by opening mine up, I suggest pop that thing open and have a look.

Thanks but I didn't do the welding and it looks ok from far away it wasn't the best work by far lol.

Anyone tried this with a stock 328i / 330i / 320i LCI muffler?

Wondering what the insides look like. If the pipes are not continuous it'll be near impossible to weld in the missing sections.

Is that the stock 328 midpipe you have there?

No the drone really isn?t bad at all. It?s there a tad when cruising in 8th gear below 2000 rpm. Hope that helps. It won?t drive you nuts. But if you?re overly picky and don?t want any noise like that skip the muffler mod.

Mine will be a 6MT so might be a little different than the 8AT. Do you have a straight pipe setup? If so do you have any videos of it that you could post?

Has anyone tired this? I want to get the 435i muffler for my n26 428i. Only reason I want this is to maintain close to stock quietness but then valve opens and It bypasses the muffler.

Prior to muffler mod (N20 with unmodified 335i muffler and downpipe) - Cold start:

i can't seem to find a muffler shop that'll do it for me , are they different mufflers as the first one seems to have a stamp and the unmodified one doesn't seem to have the same stamping in the muffler?

Any thoughts?

I'm having a local welder close it up tomorrow afternoon as the JB weld needs about 24hrs to fully cure. Based on the pictures I sent him he's pretty convinced the canister is stainless steel.
Did you close up all of the holes in all of the chambers? Or just chamber 2?

Also, what material did the welder use to close up the opening?

Have we confirmed: outside/case is stainless steel and interior tubing is regular steel?
