I think enough stock cars have been dyno'd now that we can use 275rwhp as a baseline, +/- 5.

Whatever the case, I have no doubt the MPPK feels fantastic and that 1100+ is well spent, even /w all the fluff pieces included.
That is why they have dyno correction factors.

I'd like to know where you can get it for $1100. I was quoted by multiple dealers $1500 for the parts and an hour and a half labor to install. http://www.shopbmwusa.com/PRODUCT/27...CenterId=36721 The early ones are cheaper it looks like, but the later cars don't seem to be available for that cheap.

$950 + FALL2 (-$25) = $925 plus install labor.

So $1300 for stickers, an engine cover, a new airbox / filter and software? Guess the rest of that $$ goes towards warranty?

Its really not that expensive when compared to other manufacturers. Porsche used to charge like $10k for their X50 package. And even aftermarket tunes for many European vehicles can cost $2500+.

EDIT: Whoa, Porsche Power Kit pricing has skyrocketed! $17k for a measly 30hp on a 911. MPPK is down right CHEAP!

Is there some general rule-of-thumb to determine plant integration level?

Something like: build dates before "XX/XX/XX" have "X" plant integration level and build dates after "XX/XX/XX" have "Y".

This is from BMW official M Performance Power Kit installation guide:

These installation instructions are only valid for 335i/435i and 335i xDrive/435i xDrive cars.
Retrofit kit number
11 12 2 353 337 BMW M Performance Power Kit 250KW (built after 07/2013 with EU6)
11 12 2 334 336 BMW M Performance Power Kit with FSC (built after 11/2012)
11 12 2 294 611 BMW M Performance Power Kit (built before 11/2012)
Installation time
The installation time for cars with MEVD 172S/G is around 0.25 hours and for cars with MEVD 1726
around 1.75 hours. These times may vary depending on the condition of the car and the equipment in it.
The installation time shown does not include any time spent on programming/coding.

getBMWParts.com

**The Plant Integration Level (PIL) must be checked at your local BMW dealership to order the correct version. They can do this by performing a Key Read and selecting Vehicle Key Data, then Software Integration. Vehicles with a Plant Integration Level older than F020-12-11-500 will receive a new coded DME from Germany - please allow few weeks for shipment. Vehicles with a Plant Integration Level of F020-12-11-500 or newer do not require a new DME - these ship within a couple business days.

Translation:

11 12 2 353 337 - F020-13-11-500 (2014+ EWG N55)
11 12 2 334 336 - F020-12-11-500 (11/2012 - 06/2013 PWG N55)
11 12 2 294 611 - older than F020-12-11-500 (before 11/2012 PWG N55)

Still on the safe side you should ask your dealer to pull the version for you.
