I don't think there's anything special about this "new" PPK that will be better than what we already have. They are apparently making some sort of engine change that will require a different DME and/or software than the most current models. I doubt it will be retro-fittable.

+1

If I had to be worried it would be the lack of launch control that the 2014s are getting

Doesn't mean that they won't have a lot of inventory - I know plenty of people who got big discounts on year end models. at least in the US.

Eh, I think I'm going to end up snagging a '12 with low miles on the cheap. Nothing like letting someone else pay for the first year's depreciation on a luxury car!

I would not get too excited, they said they where making a change to the engine, not the PPK. Given the quick turn-around I think it is safe to say that the engine change is also something minor.

Not that I have the PPK but for those that got it I'm seriously pissed for you guys! If you knew the new one was coming out honestly who would have got the original.

That is just it, you are stuck with what is "left over".

My best guess it that they figured out what is causing Limp-Mode and are changing the car slightly to eliminate the issue. I bet its a pending software overhaul that is being released soon, leaving a few months for the M team to test the PPK for compatability.

They are not changing the Spec of the car so it is likely some small re-engineering.

Kevin
So now, what's going to happen to those of us who already have the MPPK installed? are we going to receive any new updates? I know what you mean when you talk about the "Limp-Mode". I am having the car rechecked and probably reprogrammed at the end of the month. I hope they can do something about it because I truly dont feel the $1K investment.

A loaded 135i msport with dct (less comfort access) if left over i would take it that was the car i wanted.

There is also a frozen red m3 loaded with zcp....

if these cars were "left over" and were to the exact specification i wanted, don't i win??

I've never had "limp mode" occur, even when my aux cooling fan was acting up and causing "drivetrain malfunction" to appear on the iDrive screen. Maybe it's because my car was a January of 2013 build to start with - zero problems getting MPPK installed in April right after it came out.

Don't they mean they are just gonna revise the perf pack for the new engine? as in, older ones are fine?

If you find exactly what you want at the end of the year then you win, but it is a roll of the dice.

Don't get ahead of yourself, it is not a "New Engine". They are making some sort of change to the N55 that will require them to test or revise the PPK software. This may be a small engineering change or a larger one but it is still the same engine. Too early to even really speculate.

I do hope this is a software fix for the Limp Mode that I and others are experiencing.

Secondly, just want it on record that I like ASS. For a guy with a manual gbox, it works flawlessly every time. Funny part is it feels like you're kick starting the engine

My MPPK is new and my car was replaced so it is still being worked in. Even in its current state I can feel the difference with the PPK. I can only imagin how it will feel when the car adapts and is broken in. Even today it feels better than yesterday.

I am in the same boat. I had it added to my order (ED) a few weeks ago.

I emailed my CA today to ask about this. Did you hear anything from your CA?

I am hoping I still pay Port Install price and get it installed post delivery.

Anyone else have one on order with MPPK?

Why so much enthusiasm for a conservative bmw factory reflash? You can get much more "bang for your buck" with a 3rd party product.

This topic has been beaten to death. Anyway, the main reason is to make 100% sure that factory warranty is retained on the $20,000 engine.

After reading these posts, I am really glad I went with JB4 rather than BMW's tune. BMW always seems more expensive, more conservative and with more issues. Lol

But does this issue mean that cars made before July and last year are going to have another software upgrade? If so, I'll have to take the jb4 off and on again..

Also I hate the ASS feature. I never use it, and hate the idea or losing the power to the steering wheel while I'm making a left hand turn in the middle of a intersection. I am going to go get it coded out eventually soon

What is the port install prices on PPK for a July 2013 BMW 335ix?

Also do you know the port install price on Performance Tuning Package?
(Exhaust + PPK)?

Can't find these prices
