Dang, 3 months back order stinks. I've paid $100 for a single tip in the past and that tip was massed produced so $160 for a pair of custom tips is still very fair but price/value is always relative and subjective.

I have no problem with the price...and actually 3 months is fairly long but that takes me out of this crappy cold winter so I'm debating still, have a few options on tips now.

I'm in the same boat as you, would like to have some black tips to replace my chrome MPE ones.

I understand that the MPE tips are attached with a rivet, would you just have the rivet cut off and replace with these as a bolt on? I also thought about having mine taken off (exhaust shop), powder coated, and then put back on with rivets, but not sure how that would turn out.

Thoughts...?

Well these are suppose to actually go over the MPE tips from what I understand, im not sure if you have to remove the rivets in order to install these, but I would assume yes.

And you can go other route but that will def cost more $$ I would say...unless you take the tips off and put them back on, then you would just pay for the powder coating process.

Another option I am looking at is Dimisatips.com they make some nice tips for 335s but they are completely weld on so removing the mpe tips completely, and he is charging $99 for a pair you can get 3" 3.5" and 4" tips...check em out.

Checked out the Dimisa tips, they look pretty nice, the black powder coated are $178. This might be a viable option, I would most likely save the stock (MPE) ones, and then just have them re-welded back on in when the lease is up (have to return the car in the form in which you received it).

Not sure what size though, I guess 3.5. Haven't measured my tips, but I think 4.0 may be too big. What size are you thinking?

$178 is not bad at all, they look really nice. As for returning the car the way it was, I would probably just leave the tips on instead of paying a shop again to do that work. If my dealer tells me they are going to charge me for the tips then I would go get it done. Mine is a lease too, and I added the M rear splitter and have the M rear spoiler waiting for spring to put on. I will .most likely remove them and sell them when my lease is up. I leased the car with the MPE and PPK so dont have to worry about those.

And Derek from dimisa emailed me recommending 3" or 3.5" ...the 4" would be a tight fit with my rear diffuser on but realistically the 4" is good for 335 as those tips he offers are made for 335s.

Good luck and let me know what you end up doing. This weather is nasty on east coast now so I have no interest in doing anything now but keeping my car clean from salt and other crap on the roads lol. I must say though the car is a ball to drive in the snow lol. Had some fun the other morning in an empty parking lot on my way getting some bagels. Turned the dsc and dtc off and was just doing donuts for a minute or so and some older guy was watching me by the store and when I got out he says that looked fun lol.

Good points on the lease turn in. I emailed with Derek as well and he recommended the 3.5" tips. I'll most likely be getting them, probably in the next month or so. Need to have my new wheels/tires and suspension mods installed next week, it's all sitting in my garage waiting to be put on the car. I'll let you know which way I go and give feedback accordingly.

Don't have too much fun with that weather you guys are getting up there

Nice, nothing like having mods right next to you waiting to get installed. Only thing I have in my basement is the M performance rear spoiler waiting to be put on and with temperatures in the single digits and wind chills making it feel like -15, if I were to put the spoiler on the tape wouldn't even hold it for a second lol so I am waiting for march/april lol

I will most likely take care of the tips then as well, but still undecided

I just got my 3.8 brushed tips. They definitely look like they need to be welded on. I didn't get any type of clamps or anything with them, just the tips. I'll try and find some place that'll weld them on later this week or next week.
