Good info - thanks for sharing!
So, from what you report it sounds like this combo is actually getting you improved throttle response... Reduced turbo lag as well?
Do you think this is mainly the IC, mainly the ER, or equal parts of the combo?

Also, did you happen to weigh the stock IC unit?

I would say that there is some reduced lag but its hard to quantify. There is definitely an improved feel in the throttle during acceleration. I would guess that its equal parts CP and IC. It's just overall smoother.

I didn't weigh the stock IC but I guess I could. It feels like a cheap tin can. I'd guess its like 7lbs or so.

Thanks, just having some fun! The only bad part is that now I want to do it again but I don't know what else there is to install!

Pics I just snapped w/ the camera phone. I probably should've started the stencil an inch higher but I guess that's what I get for being first!

Thanks Mike - if you wouldn't mind, I'm curious to know what the weight "penalty" is for the Wagner.

Sure, no problem. When I get home this afternoon, I'll weigh the stock cooler for ya.

I think when I decide to upgrade the turbo (maybe in 25k miles or so), I'll probably go RB. And although I would love to do it myself, I think I'll have to take it to a professional to install. Just to be on the safe side!

Looking at the two intercooler's (competition vs performance) I don't think the completion is tube/fin. I think they both look bar/plate. They look to share the same aluminum cast end-caps but different intercooler cores. The competition looks to have the more expensive core where the bars align to the top and bottom of the core and likely a lighter alloy or lighter gauge aluminium (to attribute the 20% weight difference. Compare the to pics - performance on top, competition on bottom.

They both have the squared off face associated with bar/plate intercoolers, but the competition has an charge air passage along the bottom edge and top edge, where the performance has fins there.

Also, from the front, you can see that the performance sacrifices a charge air passage where the stepped part meets the larger lower core. The competition is joined between the fins preserving the air passages between the upper stepped and lower cores.

Performance pic first, competition second

Competition defiantly looks like the better intercooler

Man, very good eye. I didn't even notice those differences. I thought they just used the same stock pics on their site.

However, the Competition is definitely Tube and Fin. You can tell when looking inside the opening of the IC. I wish I would've taken a picture, sorry I didn't.

Gotcha... From that pic, that IC doesn't appear to use the factory clips although I wouldn't be totally against abandoning those stupid clips and going to silicone connectors.

How much of the radiator is now covered up by the IC?
See how the Dinan one is flat and almost retains stock sizing?
