B58 are pretty new so have not heard anything yet but the new S55 motors are blowing charge pipes already as well.

I ordered a charge pipe from Mike last week, and had it installed yesterday. Even with extended warranty on my car, I didn't want to take the risk have having the plastic charge pipe let go. Whether in the city or out in the countryside, I didn't want to hassle to use BMW assist, wait for a tow truck, and wait for a courtesy/rental car. The ER charge pipe is a worth while upgrade, and additional insurance policy.

Has anyone had any issues with your dealer and the use of metal charge pipes and warranty claims?

Mine blew today, 35k miles N55 stock boost and is currently sitting at the dealer while they inspect it. No engine lights or warning. A quick 2-3 WOT pull and heard a loud pop. Limped it back to my office to find a chunk of plastic missing from the TB coupler side of the charge pipe.

Does anyone know if the same issue is experience on the turbo side? Seems most reports are of the cool side pipe cracking.

I've been planning the CP upgrade for a while but really wanted to do it at the same time as the IC upgrade. Looks like I'll be digging into it sooner than later. :-/

I'm wondering this too. Are the charge pipes similar in quality?

It does move some but not that much. Did you install the large O ring?

Didn't install myself. Had a reputable shop do it. They did my dp and springs /wheels. You think I should undo the clip and try to push it deeper (that's what she said)?

Is this the o-ring you're talking about (the black rubber one)?

mbanks21 , you didn't get any code? not even 'P00BD'? What's your symptoms? 3 weeks after I installed the ER pipes (tic + charged), my car would buckled on acceleration. Mine also moves about the same amount as yours. I don't think you can install it any closer or more secured, since the clip has to line up with the groove anyway. I would check the lower connection and give it a few more turn of the clamps. Error has not come back after several WOT.

Just had this issue right after installing JB4 on map 1. Right before the 2-3 shift I heard a loud "pop." It wasn't until the following day that I experienced a loss of power and a Drivetrain Malfunction warning light.

Luckily I already had an aftermarket CP in hand, so I didn't even bother with a dealer replacement.

Mine just went. 2012 335 with 37k miles. Just cruising along, ok I goosed it to around 4k rpm from a stop light and something was off before I hit 40mph. At first the engine sounded really loud, then about 1/4 mile later drive train malfunction, etc.

Finished the drive into work and it started hesitating and whatnot. Popped the hood and looks like the chargepipe is completely off. Couldn't tell if anything was broken or it just came unclamped. Couldn't fix it with my bare hands so it's at the dealer now.

We shall see. Sad things are 1) I bought my car 49 months ago, so out of warranty (if only they'd go by miles, I'd be golden) and 2) I have a M3 on order that should be here in early December. Just couldn't have waited another few months could it...

Call me stupid, I was told by a buddy who talked to one of the techs at our dealership that the chargepipe a typically break because the engine flexes and not so much from boost pressure. So couldn't you theoretically solve the issue by removing chargepipe and coating it with that crazy ass Line-X stuff that makes things industry table and then fix the issue

Maybe they've changed the stock CP design between 2012-2015, but the OEM pipe itself flexes quite easily (see the ridges in the middle), so if the engine flexes, the pipe should also. This undamaged example was pulled from my 2015 after my proactive swap to an ER CP.

The failures are usually at the throttle body connection. Not mid pipe where teh flex is. even if there is flex there is a lot of TQ on the flange which is what causes most failures (IMO)
