Anyone knows the price of MP LSD in Europe?
3300 € in Denmark. A bit cheaper in Germany.
Plus mounting cost..

The Quaife is great fun. If the BMW LSD is Easier to handle then
it's very easy !

Indeed, but very much worth it. (Whether you want MPLSD or Quaife).
All BMW's should have this, but I guess it's one way to make the price ie of the F-model cheaper thus more competitive against Mercedes and Audi.

You're totally right!
Just this afternoon I did a lot of drifts on the snow and I found out that eLSD in DSC Off program cannot manage traction properly on that condition.
Much better DTC (in Sport+ or Traction program): at law speed on snow/ice it permits you to enjoy as well oversteering
I wish I will buy an LSD for may 435i!

Has anyone gotten the MPLSD yet? Is there a difference in how the car handles when driving normally? I assume the handling on the track will be improved (1-2 times a year).

I am considering the MPLSD together with the 18" M performance brakes but only want to do the upgrade if I feel the difference.

No, I think that all handling when driving sporty would improve, not only on track!
For example, I'm used to driving in mountains and I miss a real LSD on short corners

Hi Karsten,
You get improved cornering, acceleration out of corners, lesser risk of turning 360 under hard acceleration in wet condition, lesser tire wear (but hard to prove..), less wear on the rear brakes and bigger smile !

Hell yes.
It's winter here, so even more fun/difference.
You'll notice it just turning in a parking lot and accelerating hard out of a turn...the brakes and LSD I both have, and are both worth it.

Thanks for the information. How about when you just cruise? Is there any difference in the way the car behaves?

No, of course in normal cruising no!

Another question: with M Performance LSD installed are there any changes in the indication on control display?
M Performance LSD gives maximum benefits in DSC Off, isn't it? But I guess also in Sport+ program, no?

So what's the ballpark figure for total cost of the BMW LSD vs. the Quaife LSD?

In europe: Quaife is ~80-85 % of the BMW, but don't compare just to get the cheapest. Get the one that suit you best!

If I remember correctly DVC negotiated something like $2800 installed for the BMW LSD.

In the OT Picture under FAQ it is mentioned that Radial Shaft Seals and Driveshaft Retention Clips are also needed.

Can someone please tell me the part numbers so I can order them also.

Retention Clip I think is 33131214961, but what's the Radial Shaft Seal number?

Thanks.

I didn't mess up the seals, only the two nuts / clips.
Also a good upportunity to overhaul the brakes..

Don't hope my rear Brakes are due... :-)
Krelle Do you eventually have an install guide of the LSD, so I could prepare myself of what the working steps are? Which parts/screws on the axel side have to be removed? Recommended torque info? Special BMW-Tools needed?
As I'm planning to do it in a friends VW Garage it would be helpfull to know in advance, so we can get organized.
thx in advace!

You Can pm me your email. I'll see what I can dig up.
However all tools and specific torques all referat to bmw manuals which sucks.
I Think I have some pics somewhere as well.
One tool we had to producere ourselves.

Got the MLSD installed today at the local BMW garage. It took extra time because the old differential was really, really hard to get out. The new was a complete replacement, so install was easy. "Just" remove the old and install the new.

Why was it really hard?

Also, I wonder how often these LSDs will need to be rebuilt.

BMW had apparently added Loctite to the drive shaft. The tool that was intented to remove the drive shaft actually broke during the removal and we had to cut the bolt that held the drive shaft and the differential together in order to get the differential out.
