New shoes and charge pipe

- New General G-Max AS03. This has been said eleventy million times, but soooo much better than the hard as a rock Bridgestone S001 RFTs. Feels like a new car, and turns in a bit quicker. Haven't really hammered on them yet.

- VRSF charge pipe. No fitment issues.

Next is MHD stage 1.

Exactly, I've been driving in snow only for the last three years, first two years were on the useless all season runflats that come with most of the BMWs. This year switched to lighter and wider APEX ARC-8 + MPSS(18x8.5 255/40) and put the winter tires on stock 400M wheels. Coming from runflats the steering felt lighter with APEX and MPSS and even lighter when I switched to winter setup, I prefer it to be a bit on the heavier side. However car handles way better and the noise levels have gone down too.

thats a bummer, i was hoping the all seasons on the stock wheels would be ok in snow with xdrive. Bought fresh summer setup earlier this year and planning on swapping to the all seasons this weekend. Wanted to try and put some more miles on the all seasons before getting a dedicated winter setup

It's not too bad, I survived on the run-flats for two winters but have to be extra careful, at times I had to go really slow, xDrive does help, can't imagine driving in heavy snow with those tires on a RWD car. With winter tires I felt way more confident and they grip really well in snow.

Highly recommend down sizing your rims if/when choose your winter setup and forget about "performance" winter tires. You might not like the look of 17s, for example, but the trade off is remarkable for only a couple months.

Surprised all season tires are so popular in the states. In Europe they became popular about 15-20 years ago. It didn't take long until people realised they are neither as good as summer, nor as good as winter and in reality only save you the swapping twice a year and nothing else (you run them down twice as fast as seasonal ones since you drive them 12 instead of 6 months, so same cost).
No one uses them here nowadays, they are barely sold anymore (probably all exported to North America ).

Nothing substitutes proper (season-specific) tires.

Picking up a set of 393 wheels for F32 on Monday. Then shopping for winter tires. I have winters on all my cars, even the FWD VWs I owned. Here in Atlantic Ocean influenced New Jersey I don't mount the winters until late December.

i use them because in vancouver, it could be 12 on monday and -3 on tuesday. saves the time to swap for any sudden changes and to reduce storage in my garage 😂

Assuming you are not expecting +20 on Wednesday, you could have been on a winter set both Monday and Tuesday )

Got it, ya that definitely seems new enough. No concerns over stock plug gap either? I'm curious because I really want to go stage 2 ...

Did you end up keeping these? They look beautiful and I'd be interested in doing this to mine. What bumpers are these compatible with?

Questions for the European

1. Have car manufacturers in Europe across the board misled the public into believing that AWD vehicles are required in winter like what's happened in us?

2. Modifying BMWs a popular or common practice among the BMW community over there as it seems here?

I sent them back. They were pretty bad on one side. On a dark car it would be less apparent. White showed up the gaps!
