Anyone in the Los Angeles (Ktown) area able to help an enthusiast out with keeping a car charged for a tcu flash?

I did my flash without a battery charger.

As long as the battery is healthy and it is not too cold (you are in LA so I don't think you will have a problem) you should be fine.

Are you using a wireless obd2 or a wired one? I think the wired one speeds things up minimising issues.

But do it at your own risk, I am just telling you my experience
