Earlier B58 engines experienced this particular problem. BMW replaced the turbocharger.

Did anyone has this problem? What was the build date?

Any idea whether it is possible to diagnose without pulling apart the exhaust?

I am very interested in exact symptoms that the dealer was able to observe. Cooling system compression test in this specific instance will be negative.

Yes, interesting question. Assume this would not throw a code.

The coolant inlet and outlet ports are completely external to the CHRA. On the side of it. Nothing would leak into the downpipe. Only oil could do that with leaking seals.
