Wtb: F31 Sport Wagon - Loaded M-sport
We're looking for a loaded up F31 Sport Wagon. Open to both pre and post LCI models, but not willing to compromise on options. Yes, I'm well aware that I'm looking for a needle in a haystack. Must haves... Black, Red, or Saddle Brown Leather Interior (No SensaTec/Leatherette) M Sport Package Cold Weather Package Premium Package Lighting Package Driver Assistance Plus Package Technology Package Dynamic Handling Package (Pre-LCI) or Track Handling Package (Post-LCI) M Sport Brakes (Pre-LCI); included in Track Handling Package (Post-LCI) Rear Manual Side Window Shades Harmon Kardon Audio System Alarm System Parking Assistant Staggered Light Alloy Wheels with Performance Tires, Automatic High Beams, and Active Cruise Control are a definite plus, but not must haves. |

You're right - needle in a haystack. I was looking for the same vehicle earlier this year.
My advice? Don't waste your time looking for the Track Handling Package. The VSS is of minimal benefit, the brakes can easily be added later, and the wheels are ugly. You get the Adaptive M Suspension with the M Sport package, which is worth getting. I'd also recommend post-LCI.

I quite like the pre-lci staggered wheel option, and they'd only be used in the winter. LCI track handling package wheels aren't my fav but I can deal with them or trade for something else to use in winter. Have a set of black BBS CH Nurburgring Edition wheels with red stripe/lettering that I'll run in the summer. I'd rather not have to upgrade the brakes right out of the gate, so the M Sport brakes will tide me over until I decide what to do upgrade wise. VSS rack base ratio is shorter than the standard rack to begin with, and being used to M3 racks it's actually very noticeable to me. Standard ratio turn in feels way too slow and constantly drives me nuts! Anytime I get a 3er/X3 loaner I just can't stand that the initial turn in is so "far behind" where the front end is going. At least that's my perception based on my driving history. Lots of track time in cars with very short ratio racks and I work for Porsche now, so that's probably a big part of my perception as well.

I had found one, a Melbourne red example in Chicago that was perfect, but unfortunately I needed another week before I could pull the trigger and they sold it. Grrrrr...

Ahh. Very good points, and it sounds like you've got a great understanding of the platform. I agree that the post-LCI (B46/B48) is still quite limited on the performance options. I don't have much experience with VSS, and based my opinion on its purpose and the thoughts of others. For what it's worth, I'm still on the stock brakes, which have actually been quite solid. I'm not tracking, but even with a good 30-45 minute backroad adventure they hold firm. I'm planning to upgrade them in the future, which will primarily be aesthetic for my needs. Good luck with your search!

I know because I was watching that car for months. Almost bought it multiple times but knowing that it was overpriced made me stop. |

Pre-LCI’s either had standard suspension or Dynamic Handling Package aka Adaptive M suspension and VSS. M sport brakes can be optioned separately. LCI’s either had standard suspension or Track Handling Package (which is an updated package name for Adaptive M + VSS + M sport brakes) Most F31’s only came with standard though. I have actually found non M sport F31’s with adaptive M + VSS. Last edited by redEYEjedi; 08-18-2018 at 02:06 AM.. |
