The maps shouldnt affect GPS. If the GPS is faulty or is incorrect then maps will show it the way it is.

If you have NBT you can extract current DE file. You can send the FSC and i can generate the code for you.
You can use esys to extract the FSC.
For the extract : FSC EXTENDED -> DIAGNOSTIC ADRESS 0x63 -> APPLICATION NUMBER 0xDF -> UPGRADE INDEX 0x1 -> IDENTIFY -> GETFSC -> READ & SAVE

There is no generator for free FSC generator for NBTEVO. NBTevo also uses FSC file instead of FSC code. PM me i can generate for you map update fsc

I assume I've got 2019-2 map through automatic updates?
Is it possible to get the FSC file off my vehicle? If so, would I be able to use that code to generate a FSC code for map updating?

Haven't thought about map updates until now really...

You would have to buy a genuine FSC code to update the map is the headunit is pro nav (send me your vin so I can check)

Regarding your wife's car, again I would need the VIN number to check. If it is EntryNav then there are no DIY options because there are no free FSC generators for that headunit.

No, ID5/6 Map codes cannot be generated with any 3rd party tools.

you have 2 options:

1: buy a map code from BMW

2: Install a fake set of FSC codes with Feature Installer

I've been trying to generate my own FSC codes to update maps for a considerable amount of time today.

What I have learned is that there are code generators available online that will generate a 20 digit code for HU_NBT and earlier, and for ID5/6 or later, an FSC file.

HU_NBT2 is a different animal and there is some proprietary expensive 20 digit FSC generator that will create a code from a F0 file (like the DE for NBT and 1B for CIC).

I guess those of us with HU_NBT2 are stuck paying for FSC codes. Sure we can get the lifetime, however anytime we do a software update through ISTA+ we will need a new code to update maps.
