F30 3-series front and rear renderings most accurate yet
Here's my rendering of the 2012 BMW 3er sedan. Sharper angles all around.

While it certainly looks good, I hope there is some more drastic differentiation between the 5 and the 3
I consider myself an enthusiast and can barely see a difference between this and the 5

Here's a comparison between the F30 vs F10. Headlight design, area surrounding the headlight, kidney grills, bumper especially the lower part is totally different from the F10 5er. Take note of the upper character line of the F30 has a more aggressive rake compared to the relatively horizontal angle of the F10 character line. It also features a "hook" towards the front of it before it meets the side markers. The shape of the F30 tailights are different than the F10 as well as the lic. plate surrounds area. The F30 also has a more defined lower indented character line compared to the F10 which is barely there. The rear probably has more similarities to the F10 but the front end I thought looks a bit more different. But it is just a speculative rendering and we'll have to wait to see how close or how far off my work is.

It is a typical BMW look for a sports sedan. In the case of the 3er it is an evolutionary jump from the E90. The main face and rear are considerably more sharper than the F10 5 series the lighting units that continue the L shape to the bootlid are a different shape than the 5er and the rear light wraps more around the car. In terms of surface the 3er allows more sculpture
along the bottom half to connect with the steep gradient of the character line. If you compare the 3er , 5er and 7er there are still noticeable differences that keeps the cars seperate in their identities. |

Yeah, I still prefer the E90 LCI to this render. Definitely not my cup of tea.

I gotta say that looks pretty nice. I just hope they stick to what made the 3 great and keep it sporty. So far it looks like that might happen. Not a fan of those tail lights on a 3.

I LOVE the rear-end of that car. Classy and very sporty. I hope the real thing looks like that.

can someone explain the reasoning behind the hood setup? why oh why has BMW gone with this hood on all their new cars?
what i'm referring to is the way that the hood ends several inches behind the grills, with the roundel placed on... the bumper? sure, the portion of the bumper where the grills and roundel are located looks nice and clean. but honestly, that gap for the hood placed somewhat arbitrarily in what my mind still interprets as the "hood" (i.e. anything behind the grills with the same character lines) looks AWFUL! every time i see this, i think of the toyota camry. google it and you'll know what i'm talking about. when that camry first came out i laughed out loud at how rediculous it looked. the design of the car is nice but that gap totally throws off the front end. now BMW is doing the same? compare the F10 to the E90 LCI and you can get a perfect example of what looks right and IMO what doesn't. the F01 and the F10 look great... except for that ghastly hood gap. i can't stand it. i'll be pissed if i see this on the new 3 |

What happens when you don't like the front or the back?
I don't like the shark front and the rear look like Lexus. Why can't I feel like I did when I first saw E46 and fell in love immediately. The F30 is not doing that yet. How weird is it that when the E90 first came out I didn't like it but now toward end of lifecycle LCI E90 looks great w/ M Sport. |
