The next 3 series is based on the new X3 (or vice versa, however you want to look at it)
So why does the X3 have an electronic parking brake, while the new 3 doesn't ? Otherwise no surprises here Except that awful line across the hood, but at least they didn't f$&@ the headlights like they did on the new 1 series

the bonnet looks a bit too fussy. I don't mind the front head light treatment. The rear lights look like they sit a bit high.
keen on seeing the specs of the hybrid3. |

No LED taillights (or at least blinkers) from what I can see. Why does BMW keep doing this with the 3-series? The pre-LCI E46 coupe had halogens, and the LCI had LED. The pre-LCI E9X had halogens, and the LCIs had LED. And now the pre-LCI F30 has halogens when BMW has already scaled the production of LEDs where there's no reason why they can't be affordably included on this car.
Are the halogen taillights maybe standard in Europe and require an LED option?

I'm not feeling the nose. Maybe it'll grow on me, but it doesn't look like it belongs on a 3 series, it looks more suited for a Z car. The front really doesn't go with the rest of the car. From the side it looks like a Z4 nose stuck on a 7 series.
Interior looks fantastic though, and it looks like they've stepped up the game a bit on gizmos and features. That picture of the HUD with Navi caught my eye, pretty cool stuff. Fuel economy looks very impressive from the 328. That's on par with a Hyundai Sonata. The diesels are obviously amazingly efficient. I think BMW is smoking crack not to bring them state-side. Any competent marketing team could make that very desirable. 2 seconds faster to 60 miles an hour, and 10 miles per gallon more efficient on the highway than a Toyota Prius... in a BMW. What kind of marketing team CAN'T sell that? It's a luxury sedan that is superior to a Toyota Prius as an economy car in every way. And it doesn't even cost that much more.

From the side, the nose does not flow at all ! Just look at the sudden drop off & the bulge effect (Beluga). Sorry, that's it... they lost me as a customer on this one! |

So basically what you like better is an E90...
Lol...don´t worry, I like that picture of the red f30, modified, eliminating that goddamn tearduct between the headlights and the grill, and eliminating that unsightly line on the bonnet...giving us an E90... I thought I was growing into that front end, but when I saw that side picture with that pointy nose, I think I went a lot of steps back...looks like someone with a bad oclussion problem...oh, and maybe those things that look like tearducts are really a new system for washing those headlights: press the lever, and the car will start crying, therefore cleansing those headlight covers without needing a high pressure washing system...

+1 That hood is a deal breaker for me, not to mention the steering wheel and the pop up I drive is a no go for me!

I must say that I'm not that crazy about the new design.
The front end seems too flattened and too long more like a z4 as some has mentioned. Where the hood meets the front windshield, the slant angle (if that's what you call it) makes the car much thicker looking from the side and does not match the front end. The line where the hood and the front bumper meets is really bothersome I must say. The lights on the trunk have the inner corners cut, wish they would be more like the f10's. Interior steering wheels all look a bit to angular. Interior looks more luxurious but gives off a cluttered feel for some reason. The interior colored stitching is pretty cool like the 1M. |

When I saw the e92 I was very excited. It looked fresh, with clean lines, had a sporty elegance to it. It immediately made the e46 look dated to me. The F30 looks like it rear ended a car/truck because it is so flat in the front and then the hood like someone described looks like a humpback whale. The dash looks like it melted and is dripping over the trim.
I remain optimistic about the 4 series or coupe. But let's be realistic.. after a year it will grow on everyone and it will be highly desireable by all.

Love the M-sport version (and retro looking M-sport steering wheel). I hope it can be had with the leather seats and blue stitching like this black/red one...

I agree with the front end of the hood being awkward. does anyone else think that the seat stitching/layout is just far too busy?

Anyone found out the rear tires are not wide enough? It looks to me like 225 all around, even for the 335i sport??
Or maybe production car will have wider rear tires like current E90 Sport pkg? |

If I had the money, I'd drop my high-option E90 M3 for a new F30 with the 8-speed auto (lease) and an E92 M3 6MT stripper
