High battery discharge after parking for 2 days
First time this happen to me. I park my car in my condo underground parking( 7 degree Celsius) for 2 days. When i go to me car try to pull the trunk handle to open lid with key in my pocket, it won't open. I press the button on my key, it opens. When I turn on ignition, idrive shows me high battery discharge!? But i can turn on engine.
My car is a bit over 3 yrs old. Back in September, dealership did full inspection as a 3 yr service requirement. It shows battery at 70% charge. But they didn't replace it. On phone, battery needs replacement when it holds less than 80% charge, what about car? Is battery covered under 4 yr bmw factory warranty here in Canada ?? |

The car itself maintains the battery around ~70% to allow for intelligent charging, so you wouldn’t normally see it much higher than that unless you charged it manually. I’ve hooked my 2 bimmers up trickle chargers before and they never show a start state higher than 60-70% regardless of age.
Other posters have reported mixed results getting a battery replaced under warranty in the US. I’ve never had an issue here in Phoenix in the past 15+ years across multiple BMWs though. It’s pretty well known in AZ that heat kills batteries pretty quickly so dealers are probably aware they’d lose customers if they didn’t cover batteries. |

I plug in my battery maintainer every night that it goes to 20F or lower, 30F if I'm not going to drive for a few days. BMWs are never totally off, there's always power being used. For example, last night the temperature hit 20F. I plugged in my maintainer last night, this morning it was still providing charge. That's a good thing, it means the maintainer is providing the current that the car consumes even at rest, and not the battery.

"High Battery Discharge" warning usually means something other than normal sleep demand is draining it.
Was Comfort Access in my case, external door handle was the problem, internal short and draining current. |

Yup. I hardwired it to have full control of when it's on. I had it connected to the cig lighter but it INCONVENIENTLY turned off right before my car was backed into twice in one month.... now it stays on if I'm parked on the street

I had this Blackvue for ages. That battery is almost guaranteed not to be working as it should. I am though in the process of finding a way to run external power to it from a battery pack.

Get a power magic pro for your dash cams. Have them on all my cars with a BlackVue as my dash cam. Turning off the switch for power magic pro makes it so the dash cam turns off in like 3-5 minutes when the car is off. The switch being on will record for 6 hours when the car was turned off.
