I got more compliments in my red 328i interior with sport seats than my carbon fiber clad black M3 interior with the M seats. Red just brings about this emotional response like something exciting is about to happen.

I could see an all-grey interior being depressing, I do like some mixed colors / shades accenting things (I definitely like the ivory white / dark carbon look for example). Contrast is good. I do like the cognac / carmel / tartufo interior colors, on the brown shade side of things. |

Red is vibrant, red is alive, and red is more stimulating. I cannot express sufficient disdain of claustrophobic, heat-absorbing, boring, dreary, tomb-like black interiors, and have rejected taking over a great lease on a M340i MT6 primarily due to a black interior. My two BMWs right now have light tan interiors as they worked with the exteriors I wanted....Valencia Orange on one, and heat-rejecting white on the other for the southwest. But, if I could find an exterior/interior combination I liked with Coral Red leather, I'd take it in a NY minute.

A lot of people say they don't like black on black for cars because it's too "thuggish," but I feel the same way about red interiors. Pretty much any bright/vibrant interior color makes reminds me of gangster styling. Even stock, it looks aftermarket to me. I'll say I can appreciate it and think it looks nice, but would never own one myself. I prefer subdued and clean looks over shouty and bright colors and contrast.

Red is my favorite color. Previous long term vehicle was a deep red, but I knew I wanted a dark interior because I had always had light interiors. They always made the tint look too light at the legal limit. I went black on black this time because I had never done it and I liked the cockpit feeling. It feels like the bat mobile.
As far as the bmw red seats, I wanted one until I saw them in person once, and knew right away it would annoy me at some point. One one of those exhausted days when you're just in Abad mood I could feel the red seats would intensify that bad mood.

BMW red is really coral rather than "stop sign" red. So it is pretty bright. The M3/M4 do it better with black lower dash instead of the entire lower half of the dash red like in the non-M cars.
Still having a cedar brown Audi, 2 Black Audi's and light gray Audi interiors, it was time for something different and I ended up choosing red over brown for my white 440i. Never had a red interior before and while the brown lower dash looked like too much brown to me, I went for the slightly garish red with all of that red plastic. Its a fun coupe so why not? I had a hard time finding a red 440 coupe. Seems like a lot more black interiors out there when I was looking. Will my next BMW be red? Probably not, but I like the red, and I also like to mix it up from one car to the next. You have to do the red at least once.

And for at least the 3rd time...I'm not trying to bash it here, I'm saying "I don't get it and don't like it at the moment. Not liking is not the same as disliking. It's the absence of liking and I'm trying to understand the appeal to some people." |

So sue me for being picky, and for being on the fence about paying ~$20k more for getting exactly what I want now rather than continuing to be patient, see what comes up CPO, and trying to expand my options here. Out of the 11 CPO 4-series within 500 miles of me that match what I'm looking for on cargurus, 2 have red interiors, 1 has a red exterior, and out of the remainder there are like 3 that are maybes with the price / mileage. In the member sales, out of the six 440s available, there's a convertible 440 with red interior, a 440 gran coupe with red interior, 440 coupe but exterior is red, a 440 black on red coupe, and one white on black lease transfer. Out of the 435s available, 3 out of the first 4 listings are red interior. Forgive me if it seems to be more common than it really is, maybe it's just over-represented on the forum here. I like my GSM on Coral Red. And get lots of compliments on it. Always liked the Coral Red interiors I had seen on other BMW's. Alpine White or the Grey on Coral Red is nice too..
I like contrasting colors, plus on my F30 MSport the red is contrasted with black on the door cards and lower dash, so not ALL red like the M3 interiors. Many moons ago, I had a 1987 325is Delphin Grey on Cardinal Red.. also at one point a 2004 M3 Carbon Black Metallic on Cinnamon, not red but another cool combo, almost like a brighter Cognac? |

It's all preference. I have black and I hate it. I got the car because everything else was perfect and I genuinely Intend to swap it for red or brown or quite literally any other color leather with sport seats.

Once again, you gotta watch these haters at all times you feel me?! Pitched some wood real quick homie. Red interiors go way back and is 100% in tune with European heritage yadidimean?!

I personally think it's stunning. My current model doesn't have it.
My previous car had a black interior with red stitching on the seats and the steering wheel. Now that my F30's interior is all black and black stitching, it feels a little less boy racer, but it definitely feels like it's missing something. |

And I just want to say thanks to all those who have posted thoughtful answers, reasons like it's their favorite color, they've tried other colors and thought it was time for a change, etc. I'm learning here. |

Blacks always my favorite. Browns and darker tans next. Then reds are third on my choice list. Beige or silver/gray interiors are the worst imo.
