Added a DIY to my channel. I followed the hardwire method so it's a little different than others that just plugged it into the cigarette lighter. Hope this helps

Thanks for this. I’m planning on a similar install and was curious about the fuse tap. Looks simple enough.

I can’t say that I love tapping into the power steering fuse, but it doesn’t seem like there’s a better option.
I have this installed in my jeep and it’s nice how that car comes with untapped power all over the place.

I'm sure there are more options so feel free to poke around with a multimeter and pick what you prefer. I just went with the first one I found that works.

Do you know of any 4K 2 channel 60 FPS dash cams for front and rear? The DR900X-2CH appears to be the best I can find. I'd be willing to settle for 2k 60 FPS rear. I'm not finding anything available like that though.

That's why I run the DR900X. TBH I'm not sure why so many companies offer lower quality rear. Seems like it should be easy enough for front and rear to film the same quality

Blackvue from 9:12 ... DR900X is better than DR750X, but useful information anyway.

Thank you! Apparently there's only a few chip manufacturers and for some reason they're not progressing technology wise very quickly. They probably make enough money as is so there's no incentive to make leaps in technology.

TLDR we need more competition in the dash cam market.

What he ignores is the software makes a huge difference. It's the same reason an iPhone or Pixel can use the same sensor as a Motorola phone, but the picture will come out way different. Especially in a camera that not only needs to have a clear picture in direct light and night time, but also must be able to pull out details like a license plate. I've even gotten software updates on the same camera that improves performance.

People like Vortex Radar do a great job of showing the performance in different scenarios. The more expensive cams perform much better, much more consistently.

I decided to run mine in the trunk, but am deciding between two taps for the hardwire.
One that goes on and off with the ignition, but is tied into the engine.
Vs. one that is less consequential, but stays on for 6-10 minutes after the car is turned off...

I'm just using the trunk cigarette lighter for now. I like how the battery sits in the trunk and it was actually quite easy running the wires under the seat and to the front.

I think one of my biggest concerns was if the wire was even long enough, so glad it worked out. I prefer one that turns off with the car. I will film when the car is off anyway.
